LIVENATION.COM DISTRIBUTES MORE THAN 428,000 FREE TICKETS OVER FOUR DAYS
When Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne and the world’s largest live music company, Live Nation, announced in February their plans to stage the 2007 OZZFEST as a free show, some industry people said it would never work.
Today OZZFEST yet again has made history, as the fans clearly have spoken.
Over the past four days, tickets for all 24 shows were distributed to a frenzy of music fans. More than 428,000 tickets in all were given away through LiveNation.com, marking the largest number of free tickets distributed in the United States in the history of the concert business. In a staged release and via various sponsor sites, including Monster Energy, Jagermeister, FYE, Pilgrim Films, Hustler Lingerie and WWE, LiveNation.com enabled fans to enter exclusive codes to obtain tickets beginning Friday, June 8. More than 228,000 tickets were distributed yesterday alone, with the last ticket given away just after midnight. The tickets were completely free without surcharges of any kind.
For this year’s historic “Freefest”--which will give fans the rock experience of their lives at a price that’s hard to beat -- headliner Ozzy Osbourne will be joined by Lamb of God, Static X, Lordi, Hatebreed, Behemoth, Mondo Generator, Nile, Ankla, Circus Diablo, The Showdown, 3 Inches of Blood, Daath, Chthonic and In This Moment.
Sharon Osbourne said, “Ozzy is the first to take an entire tour and make it free to his fans and the fans of OZZFEST. More than 428,000 tickets were distributed free to fans. How amazing is that?”
“Together we have pulled off the ultimate gift for music fans this summer, a free OZZFEST,” said Bryan Perez, President of Global Digital for Live Nation. “Through LiveNation.com we connected OZZFEST with nearly half a million music fans to create an exciting moment for the live music business and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”
Since 1996, OZZFEST has been a virtual breeding ground for rising bands. The festival has been instrumental in igniting the careers of platinum-selling artists like System of a Down, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Incubus, Slipknot, Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold, Mudvayne, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Lacuna Coil, among others. It was cited as “one of rock’s biggest juggernauts” in the cover feature of Sunday's New York Times' “Arts and Leisure” section (6/25/06). This year marks the 12th anniversary of the hard rock spectacular.
The 24-city earth-pounding 12th annual OZZFEST will launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. OZZFEST will also hit George, WA, Sacramento, CA, Mountain View, CA, Devore, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO, Kansas City, MO, Dallas, TX, San Antonio, TX, St. Louis, MO, Columbus, OH, Tinley Park, IL, East Troy, WI, Indianapolis, IN, Holmdel, NJ, Hartford, CT, Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Detroit, MI, Charlotte, NC and West Palm Beach, FL.

I waited for hours on end, but I finally did get my tickets. This will be the fourth time I'm going to Ozzfest, but the main reason I'm going is because the tickets were free. By the way, I think it was a great idea that the tickets were free. I don't have much money, and the prices for concert tickets have become too expensive. If only tickets for The Police were free.

I think this year'as free fest was the single most AWESOME idea anyone in rock has ever had and it is no surprise that it came from Sharon and Ozzy. Long live the Osbournes. I am just saddened that I didn't get my code in time to get tickets!!AmyM79@aol.com

What if they cared less about making history and instead about giving the fans a kick ass concert for less money then any one else out there? Never had to be free to make the real fans happy...

Thats great for all the people who actually redeemed there code and didn't get an error message every time they tried to redeem there code. And emailed support at livenation and waited for help like their email back said to do and then in the mean time all the tickets got given away, while I was waiting for help from this faulty website!!!!! So because of a glich in livenations website,I dont get to go to Ozzfest. :((((((

The people at Livenation.com should be beat with a pipe! They obviously didn't plan for that kind of traffic, and screwed alot of people (who were there at 1 minute after start time) out of tickets. I waited over an hour, and finally got 2 tickets, but Im sure alot of deserving fans did not!
Also, can someone tell me how Ozzy is doing this for free?? They must be getting bigger cuts on the $8 beers and $4 bottled waters!

Nope it really isn't. And to everyone looking for more tickets. Everyone that is talking about the Monster Energy drink redeem codes is right. I'm working on finding where I can get them in my town right now. If you go to the Monster website it even says right on it that you can still get tix there. So if livenation shafted you, support monster they'll hook you up....or at least it's a last chance

Ok, so I’ve scanned the comments, I’ve read the ones stating that everyone who's bitching about not getting a ticket knew upfront there was a risk of not getting a ticket and yes that’s true, there was that risk, but I know for a fact the venue I decided to go to, the same venue I’ve been to every year that I’ve gone to ozzfest can hold over 60,000 people, I logged on at the time my venue (east troy) went up for redeem, I tried over and over and over and over and over again to get to the point where I could enter a redeem code by clicking on the redeem button, all it gave me was a screen telling me to enter my code next to a certain box which between myself and 6 other people could be found no where on the page
maybe its just me, but I say FUCK FREEFEST, there wasn’t even enough good bands to make trying to get a scalped ticket worth it let alone paying the 300, 666, or 1000 (before auction) price, I’d rather they cut the ticket price in half and had a lot better line up of bands then tell me its free and I have to fight the other what couple million of people in the US for a ticket. How many of those people who got tickets won’t even go?
How is it my fault that with in the first hour and even day following my venue opening to be redeemed that there was nothing there on my browser to allow me to redeem said codes...
fuck freefest... at least when I pay to go to Sounds of the Underground, I know I’ll get my tickets and get a fucking great show
when you really think about the 428,000+ tickets for 24 venues... psh that’s nothing, if that’s all ozzy wants to have at his shows fine... but that’s only 17,833 people at each venue assuming each one was sold out... hell the small little concert known as WingDing near where I live had 20,000 people at it and only charged 10 bucks for 10 bands... and that’s in a little ass town... is ozzfest so lame this year that they cant top what a little town can with a practically unheard of concert?

Why wouldn't Sharon address the fact that many of us wasted hours of are time and didnt get tickets???
This artical just pisses me off...Ive been supporting the Ozzfest ofr a decade...This LiveNation thing is total BS and to not say shit about it as a slap in the face....

LIVE NATION DIDN'T SCREW ANYONE, WE ALL KNEW THAT THERE WERE MORE CODES THAN TICKETS. EACH EMAIL WITH A CODE, TOLD US THAT IT DIDN'T GUARANTEE A TICKET. AS FAR AS THE SCALPERS, THEY ARE WRONG AND SOME PEOPLE GOT SCREWED, BECAUSE OTHERS GOT GREEDY. ANYBODY WHINING ABOUT NOT GETTING A TICKET OFF OF THEIR CD CODE HAS NO RIGHT TO BITCH, WE HAD 3 DAYS TO GET THE TICKETS, OTHERS ONLY HAD HOURS OR MINUTES

Heyy Ozzy & Sharon,
I got my code and everything along time ago in may around where the "free tickets" thing started.. && i followed all the directions on what to do and it tells me to go to livenations.com or whatever && then it says to bid here.. Isn't free Ozzfest this year? so why am i suppose to buy them when i got my code like it told me to? ahhhh I'm confussed.. =/ && i cannot seem to find where the REDEEM CODE thing is suppose to be at. It's no where to be found. I really, really wanna go to Ozzfest this year cause this is the first year I'm aloud to go and i want to attend the one in Michigan on August 26 with a whole bunch of my friends but none of us have found out how this code thing works out.
Can you please get back to me on this whole situation?
