First off, what do mean by "learn your place"?  Secondly, most bands will give you a free poster and autograph if you just ask.

When I'm in the pit, I just care about seeing the band perform. I think in the pit and hanging on the rails is the best place to be.

I mean what I say. And if you just care about seeing the band perform when you're in the pit, why are you in the pit? dont make sense because if seeing the band is all care about than you might as well be one of those standers.

If I just stand, I'd have to go stand in the back. The view from the front is so much better, so why not be in the pit?
I go to concerts to see the bands. I don't think that's strange at all.

I go to see the band...but most importantly to hear the band live. so i find that strange. and pits are usually in the center behind the first few rows of people. and a lot of people dont know why people say a lot of things they say. OPAHHH

Yes, by see the band, I mean see them live obviously. The sound up close is better, too. Being right by those speakers brings wonderful sound. To me, the first rows are still combative, not as much as the mosh sections, but are still like the part you see as the pit. Tons of people want to get to the front, so you still get pushed, hit and pulled and you have to fight back.
