That photo of Poison takes the (cheese)cake.  I also want to nominate Warrant, Extreme and Mr. Big.

The cheese stands alone . . .
1322  Forum / General Discussions / How old is too old for Ozzfest..... on: March 09, 2008, 08:55:49 pm
Its such a good thing that Alpine is totally wheelchair accessible - except those hills are sooo steeeeep (wheeeeeeee!).  You can really tell who wants to be there and who went because their chick/dude 'made' them go.  We always breathe a sigh of relief when we see this one friend and ask him where SHE is and he says she refused to come this time.  Whoo Hoooo!  Let the real party begin!

It's not if you're too old, it's if you are mature enough to handle it.  Yeah I get a little uneasy around the really little kids (under 6) especially later in the day, seeing some of the stuff that goes on, but they seem to handle it better than some of the pouty-ass people who insist on leaving in the middle of Ozzy's set to get out of the parking lot before everyone else.

The last time we went to Ozzfest at Tinley Park was 2004.  The difference between the crowd there and at Alpine is like night and day.  The Alpine crowd has a wider age range and they were more into the fest part of it, compared to the Tinley Park crowd which was more of a teens/20s crowd that didn't seem to care about the vendors and were more interested in the music.  So go figure.

Right before my boss' mom died (she made it to 99) she told me, "Honey, never get old.  Just because you live a long time doesn't mean you have to grow up."  As long as Ozzy keeps coming to play, we're going to see him.

1324  Forum / General Discussions / How do you travel to Ozzfest? on: March 07, 2008, 10:22:14 pm
we drive about 90 miles the day before the show, get a room, a good meal, many beers & shots and a good night's sleep.  depending on the second stage line-up, we might fart around in the hotel for a while, drink & eat cheap before going into the show ($2 millers vs. $8 budweisers).  after the show, make it back to the room (eventually after hooking up with other veterans) and maybe stay an extra day or two if we can.
1325  Forum / General Discussions / Hair and Glam Metal... on: March 07, 2008, 09:35:25 pm
oh those were the days!  keep in mind that all those bands were the record industry's interpretation of 'metal' at the time - and 'safe' enough for them to sign onto contracts.  bands like Metallica and Megadeth scared the hell out of them and THEY were tame compared to some of today's bands.  that's why labels like Metal Blade started - to take up the slack for bands the major labels wouldn't touch.  all the labels really did for bands was marketing and distribution anyways.  btw - Ozzy hated the whole Ultimate Sin thing and ended up shaving his head because the hairspray got so gunked up in his hair they couldn't get it out.  Ozzy in sequins???  roll out the bubble machine!::looking

i'm really surprised they are still together.  every time they scheduled shows in chicago they cancelled at the last minute.  put 'em on the second stage at 10 am!  j/k, 2 pm is okay.

people like evileye are out to entertain themselves and love being the center of attention of something like this.  thank god that if all he wants from women are someone to cook, clean and satisfy his physical needs, he can hire them by the hour.  or the half hour if that's all that it takes.

You make it sound like Dio Sabbath is worse than Ozzy Sabbath.

My music teacher taught us that no one artist is 'better' than another, it's just your perception of them.  I will admit I do prefer Ozzy to Dio.  And to be fair, we went to see Heaven & Hell both times they rolled through Chicagoland and enjoyed the shows both times.

I was flipping through my vinyl the other day and came across Deep Purple's Nobody's Perfect live album.  Forgot about that one before.  We saw that tour at Alpine from the sixth row . . . Ritchie Blackmore is a wizard.

awesome!  screw that rating 1 to 10 crap.  art is art.  you like it or you don't. and if other people don't like it, screw them too.  I wish I could get my photoshop stuff to look that cool.

I can't count the number of times/places where we've seen his ass.  the real question is . . . ever seen him pull his pants down so far you see his ballsack?  oh whatta sight!

Tribute of course and even though Ozzy hates it, Speak of the Devil was a great album.  Too bad my sister scratched the hell out of it when she was drunk off her ass trying to put it on the turntable.

Cheap Trick Live at Budokon has been a fave since we were in high school and a few years ago we got a version that was the whole concert, not just the original release.

A Fistful of Alice is also a great live album and even though it's Dio, Live Evil is a great live Sabbath album.

For live video, Anthrax' Music of Mass Destruction is the best cuz WE WUZ THERE!!!!.  ::sinister
