Regarding parenthood...but of course. That's what a good family is all about! Love. When the gravy is done we only hope it's not lumpy. But if it is, as long as it was made with lots of that, that's what counts ya know? I wouldn't trade a roly poly or a giggle at a silly joke or a family snuggle on the bed or a family movie for anything. I may screw up from time to time, but there's always reflection, and in my kids open hearts for an apology. Living rural kind of forces us to interact way more than alot of 'city' families do. ~*
How about you...is it just you or do you have a family too?
No, I've lived n worked alone since I was 13. My parents loathed me, & made sure I knew it! That's why I think any parent who shows their kids love deserves a medal!! I think it must be the best feeling in the world just to be hugged by someone who cares.....

I usually manage to follow the sun & avoid winter, not this year though! The one big drawback is the loneliness, Ozzfest is my social life..... N even I know that's pathetic!! LMAO
Nah. I wouldn't say that. It's just part of your reality. With every dream there is a price. That's a small one to pay when you have a great job that you love. Yea, there is Ozzfest, and other concerts to break up the boredom. Gives you something to look forward to. Imagine waking up day in and out doing manual labor or something that bores you to death, surrounded by the crowds but thinking "I wonder what life would be like if..." I live rural. Between kids that don't have visitation often and work there's not much time for much else. And that's okay. I choose this life. I'm not really into crowds. And I can't think of anything worse than exposing my kids to a slopped out addict thinking that defines life as a parent. Other women / friends I meet at work spend their every free moments in bars having "fun," trying to hook up with someone and living as alcoholics in the meantime. Their kids are second fiddle. I just can't do that. Yuk. My kids have a good, clean, healthy life, and I'm proud of that. They know they can rock out without all that crap wrapped around it.
LMAO...Not the concerts!! I mean Ozzfest, this site, is it!! You sound like a really fantastic mum!! Your kids are SO lucky to have you! When you looks at what passes for parenthood these days, you are one of the rare ones who actually put their children before themselves..... As you say, the majority of parents these days seem to think with anything but their brain! As long as THEY are having fun, nothing else matters....not even their own children.

To save any awkward wonderings, I've been fighting cancer for months....... I lost
Just Be Brave, Like You Are On Here...NEVER GIVE-UP, NEVER SURRENDER! And ALWAYS Remember...TRY NOT, DO OR DO NOT...THERE IS NO TRY! Only A Coward Quits...But Your're A Lion-ess, I Have Seen Your Strength! YOU HAVE THE POWER--TO OVERCOME ANY OBSTACLE, NO MATTER HOW HARD! (Heh-Heh...I Said Hard...Yeah!) LMAO Thanx my friend, but we can't win them all.....But some things we can do on our own terms ;-)

It helps when you have a really obscure job! There are only four of us in Aus, & I'm the only one willing to travel & do the remote jobs..... I usually manage to follow the sun & avoid winter, not this year though! The one big drawback is the loneliness, Ozzfest is my social life..... N even I know that's pathetic!! LMAO

The usual problem is mining sites, either active ones, or more often abandoned sites. Gold used to be extracted using both arsenic & cyanide, so over the years they work their way into the water table. I trace the poison back to it's source, then either gather evidence for a prosecution, or arrange for removal of the toxins & regeneration of the site. Mind you, some of the old farmers do dump sprays etc. that are now banned...& AWAYS in an old creek bed!
wow. i never would'a thought that. interesting. that's scary. how do you figure out where something came from? you chart the underground water flow...how do you 'trace it to it's source?' By analyzing the trace elements in the original water body, I get a good idea of the terrain it's flowed through...Calcium, ironstone etc, so I know what to look for in the area ,( no ironstone...wrong direction). I go by charts, where available, but I also need to track it myself. I start at the highest logical point in the area, & use dye & even non toxic chemical brews to trace where that water flows to. In Western Aus, most water is underground, which makes it a lot easier, less pollutants to give false readings, & not many towns to "detour" the water to their own dams. The old farmers can drive me nuts at times, but they also come in handy by showing me where underground caves & caverns are saves days of digging!
