What the hell is wrong with Ozzfest? It's practically June and they haven't announced ANYTHING.
2  Forum / General Discussions / Re: So has anyone official even confirmed that Ozzfest 2012 is still happening? on: May 10, 2012, 09:11:15 pm
It was announced in the 11th.  Today's the 10th.

Oops my mistake must have misread the date in the news tab. Still, not looking too great.

A few more weeks and I believe ozzfest will break their own record of the latest date without making even one announcement.

What's the latest they've gone so far?

Alright I'm getting a little bit ancy, I'm not sure that they've ever announced an Ozzfest this late. I think last year it was around May 10th that they announced that there WOULDN'T be an Ozzfest, although I could be mistaken.

What is the latest date that Ozzfest has ever been announced?
April?
May?
June?

I think Ozzfest 2010 was announced in late April that year and tickets were onsale in May.  I'm still not too hopeful, but we do know that Sabbath is playing Lollapalooza so they will be in the states for that.  I'm hoping that is not the only Sabbath/Ozzy and Friends date for the U.S.

Black Sabbath actually said that'll be their only summer date in the USA this year :/ ...there's still a chance we may get Ozzy & Friends though!

Alright, so I'm going to the Death to All tour this summer, to the NYC date, which is a 2 hour drive from where I live. The show starts at 7pm. I'm not old enough yet to drive by myself, so my friend who is, is going to to drive. He has a summer job though and doesn't get out of work till 5pm. Additionally, he's never driven in a big city before, so he's just gonna drive to the NYC outskirts and we're going to ride the subway into the venue. I figure that'll take like 45 minutes. So the 2 hour drive plus 45 minute subway ride to Manhattan wouldn't get us there until 7:45pm, 45 minutes after the show starts. My friend isn't willing to lie to get out of work early. He works as a lifeguard at a pool in the same town that him and I live in. He's the only friend who likes this type of music and is old enough to drive me? How can we get to the show by 7pm without him having to lie to his boss? By the way, I live in Connecticut.

This is quite a dilemma.  Exactly where in CT are you?  That would give me a better idea of what you're dealing with.  Are you saying it's a 2 hour drive without traffic?  This show is on a week night.  If you're talking about just leaving at 5pm, that's rush hour.   You could be dealing with some heavy heavy duty traffic.   I"m not sure where you intend to park in NY, but that may take a lot of time too.  It's very hard to predict how the drive will go, but I think you're being very unrealistic if you think you're gonna get into the place by 7:45.  Unless you figured in the traffic when you said it was 2 hours away.    I'm assuming you've thought about metro north and taking the train in?   I don't know where the closet station is to you or how long the train ride is. I've lived in NY my whole life, and I always drive to CT, NJ, PA and all the surrounding states for concerts, but I"ve never driven into NYC and never will.  Luckily I have the long island railroad so I don't have to.  Sorry but it's sounding like the dude needs to get off work before 3pm for this to work out.  Unless metro north can be an option.  But again, it'd help if I knew what town you're in in CT.

Yeah, I checked out Metro North and unless I'm mistaken I don't think there are any stations near me. I also asked my friend to ask his boss to let him out like an hour early for that day and he said he would but that he wasn't sure if it would happen since his job wants "committed employees" or whatever. Anyways we were planning on going north of the city and parking just north of the Bronx, right by the northern end of the subway systems so he wouldn't have to drive into the big city. If you know any other ways to get closer to the venue (The Fillmore) though without having to go through any downtown areas, that'd be awesome too. Thanks for all the help by the way guys!

In the 2nd picture are they at your house?! If so, how on earth did you get them to come there and how do you meet all these awesome bands?
12  Forum / General Discussions / Re: IF YOU LIKE BLACK METAL!!!!!!!! on: March 23, 2012, 09:23:20 pm
Just listened, pretty good. I prefer Bathory, and Watain though and Celtic Frost if you count them as black metal.

What exactly do you get with the VIP to make it worth a whole $1k?

I've heard that it was pretty solid before. That was before all the Bill Ward chaos and more importantly Tony Iommi cancer diagnosis. Given his current state and the state of Black Sabbath, can anyone really confirm that there will actually be an Ozzfest this year? If so, who would headline, Ozzy or Black Sabbath? Also, if there is one, when do you anticipate it being announced. I remember last year they waited until April to tell everyone there was no Ozzfest... I'm sure they'd known for months.
15  Forum / General Discussions / Re: Mayhemfest REALLY sucks on: February 06, 2012, 02:44:52 pm
Mayhemfest usually takes the main-stream bands that Ozzfest won't take anymore.

Wrong again. For example, look at 2010. Some dates for Ozzfest had Korn on them AFTER they had already played Mayhem Fest that year. Your arguement is invalid... plus "main-stream bands that Ozzfest wont take anymore" ...If you think Slayer, Megadeth, Mastodon, Machine Head, Anthrax, and Kingdom of Sorrow (just a few examples) fall under that category then you're either not a metalhead or just plain stupid. There's only been like one Ozzfest that started after the first Mayhem Festival had entirely ended... and if you look at the Ozzfest 2012 rumors, there's quite a lot of previous Mayhem Fest bands on there, so once again your argument is invalid.
yeah they both share the same turd and suck ass equally as much
Why are you on the Ozzfest boards then if you don't like Ozzfest either? You sound like more of a complainer than a metalhead to me.
