I used to be way into At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquility etc, but after looking further into extreme music I realize that there are much much better genres. I dislike the fact that melodeath is just watered down death metal... I hate the fact that it takes something extreme and passionate and powerful and commercializes it with bells and whistles... That said, I still occasionally like some Dark Tranquility or ATG. Amon Amarth is pretty terrible imo though.

Listen to real death metal.

Very much so, although I'd take out Decapitated and Vader and replace them with Spawn Of Possession and some grind band like Magrudergrind. That'd be sick as fuck.
