Ozzy Osbourne will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at Epiphone's Revolver Golden Gods Awards, the country's first-ever hard-rock and heavy-metal awards show.

The Golden Gods, presented by metal mag Revolver, will be handed out Tuesday, April 7 at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles. MTV2 and "Headbangers Ball" will offer exclusive coverage of the awards, both on air and online.

Hosted by stand-up comedian and avowed metalhead Brian Posehn, the awards will honor Osbourne's contributions to hard rock (something the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame forgot to do until 2006, when he got in as a member of Black Sabbath), and will feature performances by HATEBREED, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Suicide Silence and a special guest to be announced shortly. Icons like Glenn Danzig and Tool's Maynard James Keenan are also scheduled to appear, along with Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson of Testament, Protest The Hero, Marta Peterson from Bleeding Through, Isis, Brendon Small from Dethklok, WWE Wrestler CM Punk, plus many more.

Starting on the week of April 20, fans will be able to check out behind-the-scenes info on the awards at the Headbangers Ball blog and MTV2. com.
On April 25, MTV2 will air a one-hour Revolver Golden Gods Awards nominee special and on Saturday, May 2, the channel will broadcast the ceremony.

For more information on the awards HuhHuh?? including nominees and how you can score tickets to the show at Club Nokia HuhHuh?? check out GoldenGodsAwards. com.

13  Forum / General Discussions / Hendrix getting his own Guitar Hero? on: December 20, 2008, 06:07:02 pm
The official story: "Activision has announced that in Guitar Hero World Tour, Jimi Hendrix will be featured as a playable character and will feature two of his most recognizable master tracks--'Purple Haze (Live)' and 'The Wind Cries Mary'--as part of the 86-song on-disc set list," said an AB representative in a side-steppingly vague comment. "Additionally, the company has previously announced that exclusive Jimi Hendrix downloadable content will be available for the game post-launch."
14  Forum / General Discussions / Metallica talks Guitar Hero: Metallica on: December 20, 2008, 06:04:50 pm
Oddly enough, if Activision Blizzard were to be asked today about the status of Guitar Hero: Metallica, the company would likely demur. However, that doesn't change information gleaned from a Securities and Exchange Commission filing and a Guitar Hero World Tour trailer, which both officially confirm the game and point to an early 2009 release.
In an interview this week with USA Today, Neversoft lead designer Alan Flores joined guitarist Kirk Hammet and drummer Lars Ulrich to provide further details on Guitar Hero: Metallica. The trio also addressed a few of the particulars of the upcoming rhythm game, namely noting that the game will be extremely challenging.
"It's a lot harder all around, to tell the truth," Flores told USA Today. "Most of the songs have a higher level of difficulty, certainly at the end of the game when you are playing the old-school Metallica stuff where you play really, really fast and there's a lot of double bass [drum] playing, fast guitar playing, and crazy leads.
Flores also said that the game isn't a sequential accounting of the band's career, noting, "We couldn't do that because then you would play something off of Kill 'Em All [the band's first album from 1983], and you would throw the controller against the wall and stop playing."
Therefore, players will begin with two Metallica tracks as an audition of sorts and then, once drafted, will tour the world with the band, playing in a number of real-world venues. Hammet also hinted that other notable bands will make appearances on the tour as players progress. According to Ulrich, he expects to be playing the game with his kids in March.
