Quick recap and my own opinions.
recap.
Ralf Sheepers is in a band called Primal Fear, awesome band and has an obvious influence from Halford and Priest.
Matt Barlow is the longest lasting singer for Iced Earth, he left/fired for a while and Ripper was hired. Barlow was then re-hired then Ripper was fired.

IMO
Ripper era Judas Priest was actually ok. Jugulator had some good songs like Cathedral Spires, Burn in Hell and Jugulator.
The live Cds were great. Ripper did a great service to the old songs in Halford's stead.
Demolition...........well uh....lets forget that ever existed. And I think it was more of a writing issue than anything.

The best song on the Beyond Fear album was Scream Machine. Everything else was ok-mediocre.

The Malmsteen stuff was really good. Death Dealer is win.

SuidAkra is fucking sweet, the new album is more of fucking sweetness.

As far as the Folk Metal 'genre' they are probably my favorite. Followed by Ensiferum.

9  Forum / General Discussions / Bands id like to see on Gigantour 09 on: January 27, 2009, 08:37:00 pm
As long as it has Testament as direct support it would be worth sitting through 3 bands of shit to see them and Megadeth.

15  Forum / General Discussions / Chicago Powerfest 09 Opening-Lower Supporting Acts Reveald! on: January 26, 2009, 06:49:02 pm
Blind Guardian and Sodom should be the headliners.
I'd want Necronomicon as the main supporting act for Sodom and something like Dream Evil or Morgana Lefay for Blind Guardian

Blind Guardian headlines Friday with
Morgana Lefay
Kiuas
Assailant
Mindwarp Chamber

Sodom
Necronomicon
Perzonal War
Novembers Doom
Sheephead

hopefully it turns into something like that
