I'm not saying that it's necessarily a bad album, because a lot of the songs on it are good, I'm just saying that it's horribly produced.  You can't even hear the bass

grab a metronome and just slowly do it at about 60 bpm for about five minutes straight while watching tv. don't focus too much on what you're doing but just listen to each note up and down. then increase by a couple bpm every day. don't try to play it faster than you can. you don't want to build bad habits

you could look up some fear factory or other dino cazares stuff. but the trivium's shogun album is all seven string and it's actually a good album before it gets automatically written off
