Ah well, should have seen this coming after the long wait. I had so hoped it was just another bullshit rumor like every other year. Oh well. Have fun in Texas, guys. Definitely don't have the money this year to pay for a road trip or a flight to go to one show. It's too bad, would have loved to see Ozzy and Metallica tear it up.

Fail. Plenty of punk bands have just as much talent as thrash or death bands. (not to mention their lyrics are more socially/politically/religiously relevant) Examples: Discharge Disfear Black Flag Dead Kennedys The Adicts Leftover Crack The Descendents Riverboat Gamblers Bad Brains Varukers Operation Ivy Stooges X Television MC5 DOA Far From Finished Tiger Army Bad Religion Mad Sin Screamers Balzac Against Me! Nofx ect..... You shouldn't tell someone they fail and then follow up with a list of incredibly horrible bands to try and prove the person wrong. The only band on there even worth mentioning is Black Flag, and that's only because I find them funny.

I definitely agree that Ozzfest shouldn't be open to just Metal bands and that it shouldn't be a completely obscure band dominated-fest. That's not what Ozzfest was ever intended to be nor should it ever strive to be either of those two.
Ozzfest has always been a hard rock, metal, hardcore, heavy music in general festival. And it should continue to be that till it's eventual death. And the second stage is where the obscure bands with the smaller fan bases are intended to go. That entire stage was designed for bands to pump up their fan bases and get their name out there, even if only just a little bit.
This is why I always find it amusing when people get mad when someone thinks that Tool should be on the festival ("omg, they're not metal they shouldn't be on Ozzfest!"), or when someone gets mad because a popular band (see "Lamb Of God") plays above an older band, but simply not as popular today. (See "Nile.") Are these people really surprised by this? LOG is popular, Nile is popular but not nearly as much as a band like LOG is now. Of course they're going to play below them.
