Well they did have an Ozzfest in Japan last year.  But when it got to the point where they don't even bother telling the fans if there's a tour or a show anymore, then it's dead as far as I'm concerned.

I think the fact that there's been only 1 ozzfest tour in the last 6 years may have something to do with the reason people consider the fest to be done.  And even that one was only 6 dates.

I'm pretty happy with the Mayhemfest though.  To me it feels like the same vibe.  Obviously the MainStage lineups aren't in the same league as any Ozzfest has had, but I'm glad there's something comparable to it.

I think it's done, but I could be wrong.  As great as it was over the years, I don't really miss it.  I enjoyed the shows themselves, but the ozzfest camp's secrets and mysteries and outright refusal to give the fans the smallest amount of info up untill almost the beginning of summer in some cases, really turned me off from this fest.  But if it happens, ofcourse I'll have to go.  Providing it's a tour and not some one off show and they give enough notice that I hadn't made other plans first.  2010 was a very limited tour and I was lucky enough to have shows in driving distance and they were awesome shows.  Black Sabbath has yet to release more tourdates, so that could be some glimmer of hope for an Ozzfest tour.  You never know

When the fest died, so did the board.  I pop on whenever there's a Sabbath tour or Ozzy tour once in while.

Ok how about the Spring of Sabbath 2014?  Got my ticket for the Brooklyn, NY show, but where's the rest of the dates?

Cool glad you enjoyed.  I found it interesting that they chose Methademic for the set list which is a bonus track.  Which ofcourse was later dropped from the set.  I saw them play that on one of the shows I went to.  It came off pretty well live I thought.  But then it was dropped when I went to see them the following week.  I kinda wish I did a 3rd show, since this is probably it.  But then again, I went to 4 shows on the 2004 tour because I thought that that could very well be it.  But now they're much older.

Great tour this is.  Caught the 8/4 and 8/12 shows.  Amazing.  Just as good as the 2005 performances I thought

Plenty of other concerts, plenty of other festivals.  Ozzfest was great and all, but it's time for the fans to move on.  It hasn't been a touring festival in 5 years.  The Ozzfest camp obviously doesn't care enough about the ozzfest fans enough to give them even an ounce of info before June, so to me, this festival is not worth caring about anymore.  If you can still call it a festival.

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the ozzfest camp.  They broke their all-time record!  May 15th and not a single update!  And people said it couldn't be done.  Go Ozzfest!

Yeah but one opening band posting something on their myspace page about 1 date confirms nothing.  The point is, there was no official announcement about their being only 1 date on this website till almost the 3rd week in May.  So the ozzfest camp knew for over a year that that was their plan, but waited till Mid May to let the fans know.  I'm not trying to rehash the 2008 disaster.  I'm just pointing out that that was the longest they ever kept the fans waiting to make the announcement and they're closing in on that very impressive (or unimpressive) record very soon.

A few more weeks and I believe ozzfest will break their own record of the latest date without making even one announcement.

What's the latest they've gone so far?

I believe it was 2nd or 3rd week in May with that major screwjob in 2008.  They strung the fans along all the way up until Mid May just so they can tell the fans that Ozzfest is only one show and no tour that year.

It really is unfortunate.  It's been such a great festival over the years.  But the way it's run, is one big clusterfuck.  Especially when you see every other major festival posting dates and lineups in January.  What's annoying is, they always know dam well what their plan is, but they don't find it necessary to let the fans in on it.  They choose to wait till the last I is dotted and the last T is crossed before they deem it necessary to let the fans in on the most basic amount of info.  Like if there's actually gonna be a fest.  It's even harder on the kids who don't have a lot of money and need that much more time to plan and get the cash together.  The kids make up a huge portion of the base too.   But I do understand why this year things would be sort of up in the air.
