Alcohol and music go together.  For me anyways.  It enhances my enjoyment of the music.  I would never get totally and completely shitfaced at these shows though.   Just enough alcohol to where I'm not totally plastered

The parking lot is is fun after the show. Hang out and drink or shoot off fireworks or something, it clears out soon enough, it only sucks if you're sitting in a car for 45 minutes waiting to get out of there.

That's what I did.  Sat in my car for over an hour.  lol   But after an ozzfest show I'm totally shot and have no energy to hang out and drink.  I"m usually hangin on by a thread during the last couple of bands on the mainstage

It's funny,  I never knew who the hell he was till after he died.  I was at the  shadows fall show where Damageplan opened up and that was like 3 days before he died and then everybody kept talking about his death.  I really enjoyed Damageplan.   I did see pantera a few times years ago, but I went there for the opening bands.  I never was a Pantera fan, that's why I never knew about the guy.

Sadly it is the norm...white kids with their pants half way down their skinny little asses.

The good news is people will always outgrow it.  When is the last time you saw a 30-40 year old man with sagging pants and sideways ball cap?  Metal, now that shit stays with you for a lifetime....trust me.

Yeah I don't see it changing anytime soon.  In the 90's the wigger movement just totally took off and went full scale and hasn't slowed down since.

today at the groccery store

::surprise well, It isn't the norm, but I stand corrected.  That guy should probably be shot.::surprise

Well the thing is, yeah I guess people grow out of it when they reach a certain age, but then the next crop of teenagers just pick it right up and it still continues.  But you're right about metal.  It's not just a fad it's a way of life!

I like the camden venue, but my only gripe is the way the second stage is set up.  No beer stands near there and if you have to go to the bathroom you have to walk like a quarter of a mile to the portables and you miss most of the band's set.

Jayman said: ok ya got me there.  I haven't heard of most of those bands.  But when I start to see major thrash shows coming in my area (nyc or any major city) on a regular basis with predominantly thrash lineups, then I'll believe that it's really making a comeback.
in time my friend, in time

I hear ya.  I guess we'll see in the next few years or so.  I think the main problem is that so many of the kids that start up bands nowadays are influenced by crappy music.  Not everybody ofcourse but a large portion

I went there a couple of times for ozzfest.  I really like that venue.  My only problem with it is it's a nightmare getting out of there.  Worse than any other venue I've been to.   They give everybody one tiny little lane to exit and it backs up for like over an hour.

I'd have to disagree with the people that said thrash is alive and kicking and hasn't gone anywhere.   It may be alive, but it's the old bands keeping it alive.  But is it kicking?  I don't think so.  I remember when I first started going to shows.  I saw sepultura, sacred reich, dark angel, exodus, coroner, atrophy, slayer, testament, nuclear assualt, kreator, vio-lence and many more  all in a period of like six months.  All major thrash shows with mostly all thrash bands on the bill.  What do we have now?  Some of the old bands are still out there playiing the shows but they throw in a few metalcore bands as openers or some really bad bands that nobody cares about.  Sure there's some local thrash bands floating around, but I'd hardly call that alive and kicking.  I don't see any major influx of new thrash bands taking over the metal world.

I see there's some SOD fans in this thread.  I got to see them in '92 and it was an awesome show.  I think they played with morbid angel and agnostic front.  That show was insane!

You do not comprehend the concept of the n00b.
A n00b is someone who joins the forum right as it rolls over from one year to the next, only to post "Create you're dream ozzfest" and "what bands do YOU want to see?" threads, act like general douchebags, then leave the forum exactly 9.3 seconds after they see their respective Ozzfest show.
The word n00b does NOT pertain to those of us who just have not been on the forum very long but are trying to become functioning members. And you don't have to be a religious poster who spends hours a day on the forum to be a non-n00b.

Last year I completely lost interest in this board after ozzfest was over and the reason being was that this board was flooded with the most useless nonsensical posts that did not interest me in the least.  And guess what,  it was the regulars and long time board members that made the most ridiculous posts and flooded the board with nothing but useless crap.   Although now, I'm not seeing a lot of those same people on the board anymore, but this was the case for the last few years on here.  I'd rather see dream lineup posts than all the nonsense that was being posted.  Ofcourse people are gonna be more interested in coming on here when the tour is about to hit.  Because then there's something more to talk about.  Before the tour or after, it's basically a general music forum.  Which is fine, but a lot of people just wanna discuss the ozzfest tour.
