seen them live a few times, absoultely amazing band.

Im glad they are continuing on but its like a new band as they only have one returning member.
3  Forum / General Discussions / Anvil on: November 27, 2009, 11:36:47 pm
The reason they never caught on all these years is quite frankly, they just arent that good.  They arent horrible, they are a band that is just kind if there.  And they were allways kind of thought of as a bunch of goofs and were more known for the guitar who played guitar on stage with a dildo or vibrator oewhatever.

It nice to see them obtain some success now after this documentary as a reward for hanging in all these years, they seem like decet enough guys.  I have owned their Metal on Metal cd for years, and play it occassionally, its decent pop metal but nothing special.

Some people are getting the impression they never got popular cause they never caught any breaks, myself I think its because they are a very ordinary band at best.
4  Forum / General Discussions / Real Vs. False Metal (in a nutshell) on: October 30, 2009, 04:47:52 am
People that get into the real metal versus false metal debates are usually more concerned with image than the music itswlf and are far too hung up on the different genres.  I find these people tend to jump on the bandwagon when it comes to bashing a band that is considered to be uncool at the time.

There is good and bad in every genre.  A "true" mealhead could care two shits what other people think.

6  Forum / General Discussions / Greatest horror movies ever (not slasher movies) on: October 24, 2009, 07:23:28 pm
I like the old classics, the ones they used to run on Creature Features here in Chicago on Channel 9:
Dracula (with Bela Lugosi)
Frankenstein (with Boris Karloff)
The Wolfman (with Lon Chaney)

& to a lesser degree, other oldies
The Mummy
Creature From Th eBlack Lagoon
Phanthom of The Opera
The Wax Musuem
7  Forum / General Discussions / Do you like women in metal? on: October 14, 2009, 07:27:01 am
Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy is fucking awsome.  The new cd where they re-recorded stuff from their first 3 cds with hre on vocals is killer.  Ive seen them live and they are an outstanding live band, she is far and away my favorite female metal vocalist.

Second favorie is Sabina Classen from Holy Moses.

An up and coming band with a female vocilist is Dreaming Dead with Liz Elliot who is also the lead guitarist, they are opening for Nile and that should expose them to a bigger fan base.
8  Forum / General Discussions / DRUMMERS on: October 13, 2009, 06:33:41 am
Not  a bad list.  Everyone has thre favorites but one mistake you have to fix is to move John Bonham up a level.  He is widely sonsidered (arguably of course) the best drummer ever.  He is in a class of his own, he sis to drummers what Hendrix was to guitarists.

Your too young and werent around in his heyday, trust me on this one.  He was the Shit.  Interesting seeing Buddy Rich on a llist of metal drmmers.  Id add Keith Moon and Nick Menza to the list too.

You don't like Queensryche.

I have zero interest in seeing them.  I used to like them way way back, Empire was my fav of theirs and probably the last thing I paid attention tp of theirs and thats almost 30 years ago.

I want faster music at a concert nowadays.

I just caught them in Chiago, opening for Obituary.  Ive seen them like a half dozen times, they play in Chiago all the time. These guys are great, every time I see them they get better and better. Ben Falgoust is a great frontman, really gets into it, you can tell he loves being up there. Sammy Duet on guitar is the man. I was right up front by Sammy and could barely hear the vocals as the guitar amp was blasting right in my face, Im still half deaf today

Hall of Fame is a joke and doesnt even recognize metal, theres like a couple off hand  (Sabbath, Metallica) but they let Madonna in who isnt even remotely rock & roll.  I thought maybe letting Metallica in last year would open the gates for metal but it obviously didnt, not one of the above is metal, wheres Maiden, Priest, Megadeth, Slayer etc.

Fuck Them!
