The (1-3-1) Winnipeg Jets conclude a two-game road trip in the Nations Capital against the (1-5) Ottawa Senators tonight. Following last nights game in Toronto, the Jets have earned three of a possible four points in their last two games. Ondrej Pavelec will start in goal for the Jets, while Craig Anderson will be in the blue paint for the Senators. Despite being unable to hold a two-goal lead last night, Jets Head Coach Claude Noel was focusing this morning on the positives last night of their power play, scoring two goals for the first time this season and rookie forward Mark Scheifele scoring his first NHL goal. The Jets are expected to use the same line-up as last night. The only change could be forward Jim Slater who is battling the flu. If he cant play, Tim Stapleton should draw into the line-up. Defenceman Derek Meech told me this morning he thought his first game of the season was okay last night and is looking forward to playing again tonight. Below are the expected lines: JETS Ladd - Little - Wheeler Burmistrov - Antropov - Wellwood Kane - Scheifele - Maclean Glass - Slater - Thorburn Byfuglien - Enstrom Stuart - Bogosian Meech - Oduya SENATORS Foligno - Regin - Alfredsson Greening - Spezza - Michalek Winchester - DaCosta - Condra Smith - Zibanejad - Neil Phillips - Rundblad Kuba - Karlsson Cowen - Gonchar TSN 1290s broadcast begins at 3pm ct this afternoon with Hustler and Lawless. Rick Ralph hosts the Official Jets pregame show at 5:30. Face-off is 6:30. Some of todays broadcast guests will include Jets Head Coach Claude Noel, Evander Kane, Alexander Burmistrov, Senators Head Coach Paul MacLean, Jason Spezza, Chris Neil and Craig Anderson. LeBron James Swingman Jersey.Y. -- Marcos Ambrose should be on pins and needles but says hes not. Kyrie Irving Youth Jersey. -- Philippe Cadorette made 22 saves as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar shut out the Victoriaville Tigres 3-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action Monday. http://www.nbacavaliersofficial.com/Kyrie-Irving-Cavaliers-Jersey. PAUL, Minn.Marco Di Vaio declared on Friday that his work in Montreal is "not yet finished," after announcing he will be staying with the club for the 2014 season. While Di Vaio was alluding to grand aspirations for next year with that comment in his press conference at Stade Saputo, it can also be applied to this season with the clubs current poor run of form leaving much work still to be done if they are to finish in the top five. Montreals results in recent weeks have been far from that of a playoff contender. They are winless in six and have lost three straight at home. They do however still control their destiny and sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with two matches left to play. The Impacts final home game of the season on Saturday couldnt be bigger, up against a Philadelphia Union team that is tied with them on points and sitting just below them in the standings. Marco Schallibaums men have been short on preparation time for the Union match, only arriving back in Montreal on Thursday evening after a 1-0 loss away to defending champions LA Galaxy on Wednesday night. With an understrength squad, the Impact were unfortunate not to leave California with a point. The performance was certainly a major improvement on the display in the 1-0 loss at home to New England Revolution a few days earlier. The biggest concern for me last Saturday was not the result against the Revs, but the lackluster performance Montreal put in. They lacked urgency, cohesion and looked bereft of ideas in front of goal. They were unable to get the ball to Di Vaio in positions where he could make an impact, and the one chance that did fall the veterans way was well saved by New England goalkeeper Matt Reis. The only bright spot on that day was the performance of Argentine Designated Player Hernan Bernadello who was impressive in midfield. After home defeats against Columbus, Vancouver and New England, there can be no more slip ups. A win against Philadelphia on Saturday would allow the Impact to breathe a little easier. They ccould even secure their place in the postseason if they win and other results go their way.dddddddddddd The last thing the Impact will want, is to head into the derby match at Toronto FC on the final game of the season needing a win to ensure they make the postseason. The announcement of Di Vaios future has certainly lifted a cloud of uncertainty that has been hanging over the Impact for the last few weeks. The Italian forward has been outstanding in his first full season in MLS and is tied for the league lead with 19 goals alongside Chicagos Mike Magee. Its not just on matchday that Di Vaio has been an important figure. His leadership on and off the field has been superb. He is one of the fittest, hardest working players on the team and certainly didnt arrive in Montreal with an ego. His attitude is an example to the younger players within the squad. While the Impact wont have to replace Di Vaio next year, they will be losing fellow Italian Alessandro Nesta. The Impact have been lucky to have Nesta as part of their squad for the last 18 months, and as with Di Vaio, Nestas contribution to the Impact has touched many aspects of the club, way beyond his performances on the field. Nesta has had an incredible career, and he will bring the curtain down on his playing days at the end of this season. Although the Impact wont be able to call upon the Italian next year, his influence will live on for a long time to come. You only need to look at the young defence Montreal fielded in LA on Wednesday to see the quality players that are coming through. Karl Ouimette, Wandrille Lefevre, Maxim Tissot started against the Galaxy, and all of them have benefitted from seeing Nesta up close in training every day during his time in Montreal, and also the teaching he has given them. Quite rightly, Montreal will take time pre-game on Saturday to honour the career of Nesta - a true legend of the game. Montreal Impact against Philadelphia Union is live on MLS on TSN on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET, 11:00 am PT on TSN2. ' ' '

TORONTO -- Novak Djokovic heard the names of the players he could face in his opening match at the Rogers Cup and buried his head in his arms. The worlds top mens tennis player didnt need that big of a test out of the gate. Djokovic wasnt happy about having to see either 22nd-ranked Gael Monfils or 35th-ranked Radek Stepanek right away, and he couldve done without Andy Murray being in his quarter of the draw, picked Friday afternoon at Queens Park. But beyond his tough road that awaits at the Toronto tournament, Djokovic cant help but smile given his recent fortune. Within the past month, the 27-year-old won Wimbledon and got married, and he and his new wife are expecting their first child soon. "Its been probably the best month Ive had in my life with Wimbledon title, with wedding and of course a baby coming up," Djokovic said. "Im going back to the business, back to my office, but of course filled with positive energy, with joy, all the beautiful emotions that a person can experience right now. Hopefully I can use that to perform well on the tennis court." Part of Djokovics joy is that hes playing some of the best tennis of his career. Winning at Wimbledon and in Rome and reaching the final of the French Open at Roland Garros gave him a sizable boost of confidence. At the Rogers Cup, which begins with qualifying rounds Saturday and Sunday while the main draw gets underway Monday, Djokovic returns to hard-court play for the first time since winning the Sony Open in Miami in March. Djokovic got to town Thursday with designs on getting some extra practice in. "One thing is to practise, the other thing is to play an official match," Djokovic said. "Im looking forward to the first match, even though the draw is terrible for me. Still, not my fault. Obviously thats something that I cannot influence." Djokovic was joking throughout the draw about the difficult path hell have to take in order to win his fourth Rogers Cup title. Murray, seeded eighth, would be his quarter-final opponent, and Djokovic would have to get through either third-seeded Stan Wawrinka or seventh-seeded Grigor Dimitrov to reach the final. Roger Federer, whom Djokovic beat in a memorable five-set match to capture this years Wimbledon trophy, headlines the bottom half of the draw as the second seed. Federer moved up after defending champion Rafael Nadal withdrew earlier this week because of a wrist injury. Even without Nadal, the Rogers Cup features what Ontarios lieutenant governor, David C. Onley, called "an A-list of international tennis stars." It doesnt get more A-list than Djokovic. "I really do wish you well in the tournament," Onley said to Djokovic. "As a Canadian, though, Im just wishing you a little bit well in the tournament." There are three Canadians in the field: sixth-seeded Milos Raonic, unseeded Vasek Pospisil and wild card Peter Polansky. Raonic, who on Friday beat Steve Johnson in Washington to reach the semifinals at the Citi Open, will face either American Jack Sock or Austrian Jurgen Melzer after his first-round bye. Raonic lost to Federer in the semifinals at Wimbledon, and his game is on the rise whether his friend Djokovic likes it or not. Djokovic joked that Raonic "can get to No. 1 as soon as Im done with my career." He may not get his wish if Raonics rise continues. "He has the clear goal of what he wants to achieve and he says he wants to be the best, so there is a potential in him," Djokovic said. "Hes already an established top-10 player and hes becoming a player that plays really well on the big stage." This is yet another big stage for Raonic, who was born in Montenegro but grew up in Thornhill, Ont., just outside of Toronto. The three Canadians got spread out throughout the 64-player bracket. Vancouvers Pospisil got a rough draw as hell face Richard Gasquet in the first round, while Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., will face a qualifier and Polansky, also of Thornhill, will open against Polands Jerzy Janowicz. Seven qualifying spots will be filled this weekend. In the meantime, Djokovic will try to get continue his sharp play with the U.S. Open not far away. Re-adjusting to being on hard courts is the first step. "Looking at the results throughout my career, hard court is probably my most successful, most preferred surface," Djokovic said. "Its why I have always excitement for playing in events on this surface." Djokovic has plenty of reasons to be excited, whether its about marrying Jelena or becoming a father. Its good to be Djokovic right now. "Its a real joyful moment, and Im blessed to be in a position to play the sport that I love, to be successful in it now back to No. 1 and of course to be married, to become a parent soon," he said. "I cant ask for more from this life, to be honest. I try to nurture what I have and always seek to improve as a tennis player, to improve as a person and to love my wife, otherwise Ill be in trouble." On the court, Djokovic knows it would be difficult to match 2011, when he won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. But he still has time to make 2014 almost as successful. "Knowing that I have achieved something like that gives me of course always confidence and I do have high ambitions and expectations for myself wherever I go," he said. "Each year brings a new challenge, and I have matured as a player and as a person. I have gotten stronger in certain aspects of my game and physically, as well." Gary Zimmerman. He didnt even match his first-half total from Friday night. He didnt have to, with the Knicks offering him plenty of support for a change. Montee Ball Jersey. -- As usual, Aksel Lund Svindal was super fast on this hill. http://www.shopbroncosus.com/women-shannon-sharpe-broncos-jersey-sale/. Fifth-seeded Cilic gained his fourth title in Zagreb and became the third Croat overall to win at least 10 career titles. Cilic also lifted his career record in Zagreb to 22-4, winning 20 of his last 21 matches at the event. Dennis Smith Jersey.com) - The Edmonton Oilers have made Nail Yakupov a healthy scratch for the second straight game for tonights game against the Washington Capitals. Jacob Tamme Jersey. Kawhi Leonard scored 20 points, Tony Parker had 16 points and 10 assists, and San Antonio rolled to a 114-97 victory over the Trail Blazers on Thursday night for a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.MONTREAL -- Troy Smith is looking like he will grow into the job as the Montreal Alouettes starting quarterback after all. After the offence was stifled in a season opening loss last week in Calgary, Smith and the entire Alouettes team were a notch better in a 24-9 victory over the struggling B.C. Lions on Friday night. Montreal (1-1) posted the first win by an East Division team over a western club this season and dropped the Lions to 0-2. "There wasnt a lot of difference in play calls, it was just the quarterback making different reads and doing different things," said Smith. "Obviously, having a little more time with the co-ordinator and the offensive line coach is going to help you. "Im kind of greedy in the sense that I like throwing touchdown passes and I didnt get one, so Im still chomping at the bit to get my first one of the season, but if we keep getting wins, thats the most important statistic." Running back Brandon Whitaker and linebacker Chip Cox scored first quarter touchdowns and Sean Whyte kicked three field goals and a single for the Alouettes. The defence made the real difference, sacking B.C. starter Kevin Glenn five times, picking off two passes and recovering a fumble. Smith was sacked only once and was not picked off. Smith completed 17 passes for a relatively modest 187 yards, but he helped the Alouettes pick up 203 yards on the ground with a few timely rushing first downs. The Lions produced only one Paul McCallum field goal with Glenn at quarterback. Backup John Beck had an eight-yard TD toss to Courtney Taylor with 1:20 left in the game on a drive aided by three Montreal penalties. It was their first TD since they got two in the first quarter of a loss last week at home to Edmonton. "This is a tough business to be in because you can be so high one day and so low the next," said the 35-year-old Glenn, who became the starter when Travis Lulay was placed on the six-game injured list with a shoulder injury. "Weve just got to make sure we stick together and try to turn this thing around. "Its a long season. The most important thing is to stick together as a team." The concern for B.C. going into the game was having newcomer Ryan Cave starting at left tackle after only two practices with the team this week. It wasnt all his doing, but Montreal spent much of the first half in the Lions backfield, either sacking Glenn or hurrying throws. Bowman said the defence didnt key on Cave.dddddddddddd "The way (defensive co-ordinator Noel Thorpe) called the game, it wasnt anything against Cave," said Bowman, whose four sacks was one short of a team record. "I actually thought he played OK. "Coach Thorpe called a masterful game. We didnt take advantage of one player, but their scheme in general." The defence came up with the first score 7:36 into the game on a play that had the crowd of 20,018 on its feet. Defensive lineman Scott Paxson reached up a hand to pick off Glenns throw, then flipped the ball to Cox to run 20 yards into the end zone. It was a fifth career TD for Cox. "I had contain on that play," said Paxson. "The quarterback threw the ball a little low and I got my hands on it. After that, I wasnt really thinking. I saw I was about to be tackled so I pitched it to Chip." Cox had one defensive tackle, leaving the 2013 outstanding defensive player two short of moving into the top-10 in CFL history. Smith led a nine-play, 71-yard drive capped by Whitakers 32-yard TD run at 13:27. Whyte added a pair of field goals in the second quarter, one of them set up by an Andrew Harris fumble that was recovered by Jerald Brown on the B.C. 43 yard line. The other came after Smiths 37-yard pass to S.J. Green, which appeared to hit the ground. However, B.C. coach Mike Benevides said spotters got the replay late and the referee ruled that the next play had started before the challenge flag was thrown. "That would have been a difference of three points," Benevides said. "Id love to get the replay on time." Montreal back-up quarterback Tanner Marsh fumbled on a third-and-short play into Solomon Elimimians hands at the Montreal 40 to set up McCallums 24-yard field goal to put B.C. on the board 5:41 into the second half. Glenn had a promising drive die when he was intercepted by Marc-Olivier Bouillette in the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Glenn threw only seven picks all of last season with Calgary, but has six in two games with the Lions. B.C. finally scored with Beck in the game. "I wanted Beck to get some work,"said Benevides. "He had some time to warm up, so I got him in there to get some game reps." The schedule doesnt get easier for the Lions, whose next game is at Saskatchewan on July 12. The Alouettes stay home to face 2-0 Winnipeg next Friday. ' ' '

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Max Novak and Matt Hatch each scored two goals to help top-seeded Union beat Vermont 5-2 on Friday in the opening game of the NCAA East Regional. Mat Bodie also scored for Union, which came into the tournament as the nations top-ranked team for the first time in program history after winning the ECAC tournament for the third straight season. Kevin Sullivan added three assists and Daniel Carr had two for the Dutchman (29-6-4). Chris McCarthy had two goals for Vermont (20-15-3), which was making its first NCAA appearance since 2010. Union is 13-0-1 in its last 14 games. The Catamounts took eight penalties, and Union converted three times on special teams. The Dutchmen got on the board 4:15 into the game with a short-handed goal. Hatch went almost end-to-end unimpeded, skating down the right half-wall before cutting into the slot and beating goalie Brody Hoffman to the glove side. "That really got the bench going," Bodie said. "Special teams often dictate who wins and I thought our special teams did it tonight." --- CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Mark MacMillan deflected a shot into the goal with 1:44 to go, rallying North Dakota to a 5-2 victory over top-seeded Wisconsin on Friday night in the NCAA tournaments Midwest Regional. No. 3 North Dakota (24-13-3) will face second-seeded Ferris State in the final Saturday. Ferris State beat Colgate 1-0 in the other semifinal. The seven-time national champions got an at-large berth when Wisconsin (24-11-2) beat Ohio State for the Big Ten title, eliminating the Buckeyes. North Dakota then knocked out its long-time rival with three late goals. MacMillan deflected Brendan ODonnell shot from the right wing into the net -- the goal was upheld on review -- to break a 2-all tie. Rocco Grimaldi scored a pair of empty-net goals in the final minute. --- PROVIDENCE 4 QUINNIPIAC 0 BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Jon Gillies made 37 saves and third-seeded Providence beat second-seeded Quinnipiac 4-0 on Friday night in an NCAA East Region semifinal. Mark Jankowski, Anthony Florentino, Shane Luke, and Trevor Mingoia scored for Providence (22-10-6). The Friars led 1-0 after the first, and scored three second-period goals. Providence is making its 10th tournament appearance, but the first since 2001. It was the Friars first win in the tournament since 1991. The Friars will play top-seeded Union on Saturday in the regional championship game. Quinnipiac finished the season 24-10-6. This was in just the third NCAA tournament for the Bobcats, who lost to in-state rival Yale in last years national championship game. Quinnipiacs Michael Garteig made 22 saves. --- FERRIS STATE 1 COLGATE 0 CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Gerald Mayhew scored a power-play goal midway through the first period, and C.J. Motte made it stand up by turning away 35 shots Friday, leading Ferris State to a 1-0 victory over Colgate in the NCAA tournament regional semifinals. The second-seeded Bulldogs (29-10-3) advanced to the Midwest Regional final by pulling off their sixth shutout of the season, their fifth with Motte in goal. Colgate (20-14-5) had more shots on goal, but couldnt get one past the junior goaltender, who made two impressive stops during a power play in the third period. He also made a glove save on Spiro Goulakos slap shot with 1:37 to go. Colgates Tyson Spink was called for cross-checking with 57.9 seconds left, allowing Ferris State to finish it off on a power play. Brian Orakpo Redskins Jersey. MO CHEEKS (Pistons): Out as coach. Am I surprised? No. The team is dysfunctional and is a collection of parts that dont know how to or want to commit to playing team ball. Talent - sure theyve got that but they look like a summer AAU team with a bunch of guys that are looking to showcase their individual games. Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings are Exhibit A and B. When does President/GM Joe Dumars eventually admit that hes lost his way and submit his resignation? How many more coaches are going to be blamed for his moves? Maybe Lionel Hollins comes in and saves Dumars job. Hollins is a no-nonsense coach who wont tolerate whats gone on there of late. Better get this right and quick. 2. TORONTO RAPTORS SCHEDULE: Have played a ton (28) of road games already. At 14-14 thats respectable but the time to win the Atlantic Division and also try to claim the third seed in the East has come. 19 of the final 32 games are at home. They have under-performed at home with a record of 12-10 and for this season to take off in a positive direction again the assertive play must reappear. To have a really nice season you hang around .500 on the road which theyve done and you take no prisoners at home. The schedule has turned with no more than two games in a row on the road the rest of the way. Time to get it done. They are more than capable of doing it. 3..ddddddddddddGORAN DRAGIC (Suns): You see his numbers (27 points and six assists) since he was snubbed from the West All-Star team. The man is on a mission. Without Eric Bledsoe he has kept his team at a high level. Hes wonderfully skilled but what Ive seen of late as well is a little nasty streak like hes got even more to prove. Good for him. Hes doing it. 4. TAJ GIBSON (Bulls): He has been given the opportunity to start and play more minutes and hes delivering. Love his energy and second effort. Improved his face-up game and can get his game off in the lane though hes a bit undersized. Considering that Carlos Boozer looks like a guy that will be amnestied next season its going to be important in this homestretch of the season to determine if Gibson can carry starters minutes and hold up effectively. So far - solid. 5. NIKOLA VUCEVIC (Magic): Back from a concussion and suddenly the Magic are beating elite teams. Hes a terrific young player who was an absolute steal for them. When hes played this year he is scoring over 13 points and getting close to 11 boards a game while shooting 50 per cent. The stability of having a guy you can throw it into the post and get productivity from is so helpful. Hes a tough guy on the backboards and competes hard. Knows and accepts his role and is a good long term fit for their franchise. A keeper. ' ' '

PHILADELPHIA -- After a terrible start, the Philadelphia Flyers are back on track. Kimmo Timonen had a goal and two assists, Steve Mason made 32 saves and the Flyers beat the Ottawa Senators 5-2 Tuesday night. Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds and Adam Hall also scored for Philadelphia, which is 4-0-1 in its last five games after a 4-10-1 start. "When you skate hard, create chances, good things will happen," Timonen said. "The team looks good right now. A lot of things are going well for us now and we have to keep it going." Clarke MacArthur and Kyle Turris each had a power-play goal for the Senators, who have lost two in a row. Timonen and Simmonds scored 23 seconds apart to snap a 2-all tie in the third period. First, Timonen got his first goal of the season on a nifty move to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead. He skated in from the left side and stuffed a backhander past Robin Lehner. Simmonds then scored on a turnaround slap shot from the slot, and Mason stoned Turris on a penalty shot with 5:06 left to preserve the two-goal cushion. "Confidence is a big thing," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "Our top players are producing, getting points and feeling good about themselves." Coming off a 2-0-1 road trip that included a 5-0 win at Ottawa, the Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead before letting the Senators back in it. Turris had a chance to give Ottawa the lead with a wide-open net midway through the third, but defenceman Nicklas Grossmann made a double-skate save in the crease. The play was reviewed after the next stoppage and upheld. The puck hit Grossmanns left skate, bounced off his right skate and out. "I tried to get some guys out of the crease and I just felt the puck hit my left foot," Grossmann said. "It was more lucky than reflex." Timonen and Simmonds scored shortly after a long stop for the video review. Down 2-0 for the 11th time in 21 games, the Senators started their comeback in the second period when MacArthur fired a top-shelf shot from inside the left circle through a screen and over Masons shoulder. It stayed 2-1 until the third period when Turris scored 10 seconds into Ottawas fifth power-play chance. Turris backhanded a bouncing puck past Mason to tie it at 2. "We had an opportunity with 10 minutes left in the game and the score tied and we didnt respond well," Senators coach Paul MacLean said. The Flyers went ahead 1-0 after killing consecutive penalties that included a 12-second overlap. Giroux scored a power-play goal with 2:16 left in the first period off a perfect pass by Jakub Voracek, who faked a shot from the right circle and slid the puck across the ice. Giroux ripped it over defenceman Chris Phillips and past the sprawled Lehner. It was only the second goal of the season for Giroux, and the Flyers captain celebrated by kissing his stick on the bench. Couturier made it 2-0 early in the second by ending a 25-game goal drought. He took a shot from below the goal line that bounced off the post, hit Lehners right skate and went in. "It feels good. I feel 20 pounds lighter," Couturier said. "Ive had some quality chances lately and it feels good to finally get one in." NOTES: Voracek has six points (two goals, four assists) in his last five games. ... Giroux didnt have any goals in the first 15 games before getting two in the last five. ... Louis Blues just continue to roll -- especially against the Nashville Predators.CALGARY -- The man who gave the host country one of its most memorable moments of the 2010 Winter Olympics faces long odds to compete at the next Winter Games. Jon Montgomerys gold medal in skeleton at the Whistler Sliding Centre and his subsequent auctioning off of a pitcher of beer in the village square elevated him to folk-hero status. But the 34-year-old from Russell, Man., might not make the 2014 team for Sochi, Russia, in February. Montgomerys results the last season and a half have yet to meet Bobsleigh Canada Skeletons qualification criteria. He needs to hit the ball out of the park and also have little luck in the four races he has left to qualify before Jan. 19. "Unfortunately for me, Im fighting an uphill battle in that regard," Montgomery said Wednesday in Calgary. "I would guess the way things have gone it would be nothing short of winning the four races before that deadline." Mellisa Hollingsworth of Eckville, Alta., Calgarys Sarah Reid and John Fairbairn and Eric Neilson of Kelowna, B.C., were introduced Wednesday as Canadas skeleton athletes for Sochi. Canada can qualify a third man and a third woman for Sochi in January, according to head coach Duff Gibson. Should Canada gain those berths, Montgomery is up against Dave Greszczyszyn of Burlington, Ont., for the final spot on the mens team. It will come down to points earned in races. Greszczyszyn is currently ranked 23rd in the world and Montgomery 25th with 32 points separating them. Montgomery didnt qualify in fall selection races for the World Cup team. Hes competing on the secondary Intercontinental Cup circuit where results are worth fewer points than World Cup results. Greszczyszyn will continue to race World Cups. "Dave will be earning twice as many points for his results on World Cup than I will be on IC," Montgomery said. "If I win all four races and Dave gets 13th in his races hell beat me out in points." If the two men end up close or tied in points, it could come down to coachs discretion, which Gibson doesnt relish. The 2006 Olympic champion hopes the sliders sort it out themselves so he can avoid that painful decision. "By delaying our third selection until we know there is a third Canadian spot allows them to separate themselves based on performance, rather than us having to make a subjective choice," Gibson said. Montgomery will race twice in Whistler, B.C., on the track of his Olympic triumph before a pair of races in Park City, Utah, in January. "Im always optimistic," he said. "Ill work until the cows come home for any kind of a chance. Im not going to worry about the race results before they happen. "Im going to be worried about the next run, the next inch, the next corner. If I get ahead of that, Im not focused on whats important, which is the things I can control right now. "I wont bbe defined by my failures and this is hardly a failure yet.dddddddddddd" Montgomery has yet to bond with the sled he built from scratch when he took the 2011-12 season off from racing. The first World Cup after the 2010 Olympics was in Whistler and Montgomery won there. But he didnt finish on the podium again that season. Unwilling to race on a sled that got him wins on just one track in the world and looking ahead to Sochi, Montgomery worked with the metal construction company Standens on a new sled. The move hasnt translated into success on the track. Montgomery needed four top-six results in World Cups the last season and a half to automatically qualify for Sochi. He was sixth once in 2012-13 and was at a major disadvantage this season not qualifying for the World Cup. Montgomery doesnt regret the season he took off or the move to a new sled. Hes sure there would be no chance of beating Latvian skeleton superstar Martin Dukars or Russian slider Alexander Tretiakov, who are co-favourites for gold in Sochi, if he didnt make the change. "The sled that Ive got right now is better than the sled I used to be on," Montgomery said. "Theres no question. The only unfortunate part, and the reason why I was so successful in 2010, was because that old sled was like an extension of my body. "When I was competing in 2010 in Vancouver, that sled Id been on for eight years. I knew exactly how it would react to every single situation I was presented with. Im not there with my Standen sled. I havent had the time to get comfortable with it yet." And its not a simple matter of going back to his former sled, he says. Montgomery hasnt been on it for three years and his body would have to re-learn it. There isnt time for equipment tinkering now. Montgomery says he was the fastest Canadian on the Sochi track during an international training week in the fall. "I was the fastest Canadian athlete by a good bit, but thats neither here nor there," he said. "Its disappointing for me not to be given the benefit of the doubt of that leadership, that past performance proof that Im maybe the best person for the job, but Im in this situation by my own doing. "I cant blame anybody. If youre expecting to be given consideration based on past performance, youre kidding yourself." Montgomery took the risks he did because he wanted another Olympic medal. "I was searching for that special thing I knew I would have to do to be a medallist this go around," Montgomery explained. "Ive got no interest in becoming a two-time Olympian. My interest was always I wanted to do everything in my power to go there and defend my Olympic gold medal, our Olympic gold medal. "Ive got zero regrets. I know I created the bed Im sleeping in, but Im only disappointed. Disappointed is fleeting. Regret is lasting." ' ' '

TORONTO - As Amir Johnson took a seat, having just picked up his sixth foul towards the end of Thursdays first overtime period, Patrick Patterson fouling out minutes earlier, Dwane Casey and his coaching staff mulled over their next move. Huddling up, Casey consulted with his assistants for over 30 seconds before looking to the far side of his bench and reluctantly calling for Jonas Valanciunas. The Raptors starting centre had been a spectator since late in the third quarter, amounting to roughly an hour of real time spent on the bench since he was last on the floor. As his coach feared, Valanciunas was more than a little rusty, playing 25 seconds in the first OT frame and the bulk of the second until Casey opted to go with Tyler Hansbrough to close the game in the third and final period of extra time. "It really wasnt fair to Jonas," Casey said in hindsight, following his teams marathon 134-129 loss to Washington. "It wasnt his fault." Upon reentering, Toronto immediately ran a pick-and-roll for Valanciunas, however the pass from Greivis Vasquez - who was trapped on the right elbow - was mistimed and ultimately deflected before it reached Valanciunas in the middle of the key, the turnover charged to Vasquez. A few minutes later, Valanciunas received the ball on the left block and with the clock winding down he flipped up a quick shot that was swatted by Marcin Gortat, his first of two field goal attempts in the period, both blocked by Gortat. With just over one minute remaining in double OT, the game tied at 116, Valanciunas negated a Vasquez runner, needlessly tipping in the shot that was already on its way down, above the cylinder. The look of frustration on the sophomores face said it all. This was not his night. The Raptors were outscored by 14 points in the 29 minutes that Valanciunas was on the floor. "I feel really sad," Valanciunas lamented, with his head down after the game. "I feel really bad right now. I could do a much better job than what I did." Valanciunas lost more than his rhythm, sitting as long as he did in the second half of Thursdays ball game. His confidence appeared to be at an all-time low. The second-year centre has had a rough couple of weeks, averaging 7.1 points and 7.6 rebounds, shooting 45 per cent in 24 minutes per in his last eight games. Over the previous eight contests, he put up averages of 15.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, shot 58 per cent from the field and logged just over 29 minutes a night. Perhaps fatigue has played a factor - he eclipsed his minute total from his rookie season last week - but the most noticeable variation in his approach hinders on an immeasurable concept that he has downplayed in the past. Swagger. Valanciunas is a different animal when he plays with that edge, anger and fire, when he gets outside of his head, stops over-thinking the game and just plays basketball. Too often you can almost see his thought process on the court, his movements are robotic as he aims to avoid disaster, fearful of making a mistake that will draw the ire of his head coach. However, hes at his best when he plays freely and Casey knows it. "The key is patience, not getting down on yourself, have fun," Casey said after morning shoot-around on Thursday. "I mean youre playing basketball. Theres no pressure on JV to produce. The pressure is on DeMar (DeRozan) and Kyle (Lowry) and Amir, the older guys." Given the unreasonably high preseason expectations its easy to overlook the fact that Valanciunas is still only 21-year-old, playing in his first full season after missing a sizeable chunk of his rookie campaign due to injury. Hes had an eventful year, participating in Summer League for the Raptors and competing with Lithuania in the FIBA qualifying tournament during the offseason. Hes still learning the NBA game, getting fully accustomed to his surroundings and most importantly finding his way as a player. None of that is lost of Casey, who refuses to put the cart before the horse when it comes to the development of his young centre. "I told him to stay with it," Casey said after Valanciunas logged just 17 minutes in Tuesdays win over Cleveland. "Right now hes pressing so much. just told him to relax [and] play basketball." On account of their unexpected success this season the Raptors ultimate objective has been altered slightly. Although theyre now looking ahead to the playoffs and hoping to make some noise come April, their primary goal has not changed. Casey is still focused on developing his young players, namely Valanciunas and fellow sophomore Terrence Ross. "The hardest thing to do is to develop and win at the same time," Casey said. "Luckily weve got some wins and these guys are developing at the same time. Its the hardest thing to do because a lot of times theyre in there when they really dont deserve to, not as much lately but in the first part of the year." However, Casey wont coddle either sophomore with unconditional playing time. Valanciunas, like Ross, has had the opportunity to play and learn through his mistakes but the criteria for remaining on the floor long enough to do so has been made clear since the get go. "Offensively right now, hes not making his post moves, but thats going to come," Casey said. "Get some sweat shots, get some tip-ins, go to the offensive boards, screen. Do some of the sweat jobs and that will help him get his rhythm in the post." The process is gradual and, as Casey reminds us, its not going to happen overnight. Valanciunas possesses the ability, the desire and the work ethic to be a top tier NBA centre but its not going to happen in the middle of his second season. It takes time and no one in the Raptors organization will rush him. For now, Valanciunas is a matchup play. His minutes will continue to be sporadic as Casey leans on quicker, more experienced and versatile defenders in Johnson and Patterson some nights, depending on the opponent and whichever version of Valanciunas comes to play. Through it all, he cant lose focus and most importantly he cant lose his confidence. Hes got to keep his head up - on and off the floor - continue to work and learn whether hes in the game or on the bench. The Raptors are exercising patience with their young big man but he needs to be patient with himself. Lyle Sendlein Cardinals Jersey. -- Garret Sparks made 31 saves as the Toronto Marlies beat the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-1 in American Hockey League play Tuesday. Larry Fitzgerald Cardinals Jersey.

Apparently this took place at a soccer stadium for a club match in Brazil. http://www.nflofficialauthentic.com/nfl-jerseys/arizona-cardinals/antonio-cromartie-jersey-c-1_13_2117.html.Y. -- Marcos Ambrose should be on pins and needles but says hes not. Frostee Rucker Cardinals Jersey.J. -- Thierry Henry and Lloyd Sam scored second-half goals to give the New York Red Bulls their first win of the season, 2-1 over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night. Tyson Jackson Falcons Jersey. Barcelona hosts third-division side Cartagena in the return leg of their round-of-32 tie after winning their first meeting 4-1.LONDON -- With his playing career over, former England captain David Beckham has decided his next move: starting a Major League Soccer team in Miami. Since leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy in December, and retiring from the game after a subsequent five-month stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Beckham has been mulling over the location for his MLS franchise. Beckham has now made up his mind and he would pay a discounted rate of $25 million to start an MLS expansion team in Miami, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because plans for the team arent being publicly discussed yet. The option of becoming a team owner was included in the MLS contract Beckham signed when joining the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007. "We know that Miami is one of the most passionate soccer markets in North America," MLS Executive Vice-President Dan Courtemanche told the AP. "We have met with David Beckham regarding ownership of an expansion team, and we look forward to David one day owning an MLS club." There are currently 19 MLS teams, and league commissioner Don Garber hopes to expand to 24 teams by the 2020 season. A 20th team is already in place to begin playing in 2015 after Premier League club Manchester City and its partner, the New York Yankees, paid an expansion fee of $100 million to launch New York City FC. The MLS still has to give Beckham the go-ahead to make Miami the location of the franchise. Beckham is looking to raise several hundred mmillion dollars of investment to fund the setup costs, including putting together the squad of players and building a stadium.dddddddddddd Beckhams business partner Simon Fuller, the "American Idol" creator who is the driving force in franchise negotiations, will be a significant shareholder, the person familiar with the situation said. Beckham is looking to sell stakes in the team to other investors, and has already had expressions of interest from businessmen globally. Beckham hopes the team to debut in three years, which would probably require the franchise to initially play in an existing venue. In June, Beckham toured the Sun Life and Florida International University stadiums and met with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. University officials delivered a presentation to Beckham and Marcelo Claure, president and CEO of Brightstar Corp. and a member of the FIU Board of Trustees, explaining the draw of a professional team in Miami. Before deciding on Miami as the franchise location, Beckham explored options in other cities, including Montreal, San Diego and Orlando, the person said. Miami has had a Major League Soccer team before. The Miami Fusion held matches in Fort Lauderdale from 1998 to 2001, before shutting down because of poor attendance. As a former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder, Beckham hopes his star power will make a team work there. Beckhams management team said it is not ready yet to make an announcement about Beckhams franchise ownership option. ' ' '

CARROLL GOES FOR THIRD PLATE WITH AMIS HOLIDAY Trainer Josie Carroll, who has already won two Queens Plates (Edenwold in 2006, Inglorious in 2011), will try for a third one on Sunday with Ivan Dalos homebred Amis Holiday. Aboard will be Luis Contreras, who teamed with Carroll to win not only the Plate, but the Woodbine Oaks with the filly Inglorious. Amis Holiday, a son of Harlans Holiday-Victorious Ami, has only started twice this year, finishing a good fourth to Mr. Speaker in the Grade 3 Lexington at Keeneland on April 19, before a troubled third, just a neck behind the disqualified winner and Plate rival Asserting Bear, in the Marine Stakes at Woodbine on May 25. "It was a great effort," said Carroll, about the Marine. "But it was a disappointing race because the horse didnt get a clean trip and show what he could do. That was a little troubling." About the Lexington, "He ran a tremendous race. For the amount of time hed been off, I was very impressed with what he did." Last year, Amis Holiday broke his maiden at first asking and then stepped up to stakes company and promptly won the Grade 3 Grey. That effort made him the 3-5 choice to win the rich Coronation Futurity but he endured a difficult trip, ending up fifth before being disqualified. Since the Marine, Amis Holiday has been busy with four solid works, including a sharp five furlong breeze in 59 3/5 seconds last Sunday. "Hes just a very nice, very easy horse to train. He does everything you ask him to." About the Plate, Carroll, who is also the only female conditioner to ever win the race, added, "Its a big field and this horse has already had a couple of troubled trips. He just really needs a clean trip. Hes coming up to the race in really good order. Hes bred to go a distance. Everythings right about him. Now we just have to see if things work out on the day." ONE DESTINY ON EDGE, BUT SET FOR RACE One Destiny is still touch and go to make the final field for Sundays Queens Plate, but hes been training like hes ready to run a career race. The son of Dance to Destiny is currently ranked 16th on a list of 16 horses (by purse earnings) expected to start in the 155th edition of the 1 ¼-mile event. If two more horses do enter, One Destiny could be on the outside looking in as a maximum of 17 are allowed in the gate for the race. Trainer Alec Fehr, who also owns a piece of the Ontario-bred with Winston Penny, knows the potential storyline. "Are we going to get in? Were kind of on the edge, arent we?" he wondered. The answer to the first question will be answered definitively on Thursday morning at the breakfast draw for the race. But on Monday, Fehr spoke assuredly about the current condition of the horse, who has one win in three 2014 starts. "Hes doing really fine," Fehr said. "He had a really nice work (on Sunday; a bullet five furlongs in :59, breezing). Hes come out of the work in good order and very sharp today. All is well." Fehr says his tactical speed will serve the horse well. "If you look at his races, he really didnt get to run in any of his three races. Hes got any kind of speed. He can be a six-furlong horse or a mile and a quarter horse. He can be wherever in a race, but Id like to be close to the front (in the Plate)." Justin Stein, who won the 2012 Queens Plate aboard Strait of Dover, gets the call on Sunday. RHYTHM BLUES LOOKS TO ORCHESTRATE PLATE WIN NO. 3 FOR GONZALEZ Will this years edition of the Queens Plate be the same old song for two-time winning trainer Nick Gonzalez? In 2010, it was Big Red Mike who stepped up to the mike for Gonzalez and hit No. 1 on the Plate chart. Last year, it was Midnight Aria who had the veteran horseman humming a winning Queens Plate tune. This year, hes hoping Rhythm Blues will take centre stage in front of a packed house in the "Gallop for the Guineas." "My one thought all along is that he would get better the more he raced," said Gonzalez, of the chestnut son of Tale of the Cat. "His speed figures have gone up each time. I thought he ran a credible race in the Plate Trial (Rhythm Blues was fourth to We Miss Artie in the 1 1/8-mile Plate prep on June 15). He can still get better and hopefully, he is at his best on the big day." Sporting a record of one win, one second and two thirds from eight starts, the Hillsbrook Farms silk-bearer has raced at Delaware, Parx, Gulfstream Park and Keeneland, with his past two efforts coming at Woodbine. "Hes a stalker, not a speed horse," offered Gonzalez. "I dont see him being too far out of it. He isnt afraid to be in the mix, inside, outside, wherever. Weve had good fortune on two occasions to win this race. Hopefully, we can have some luck again this time." Himalayas in India are known to be the most spiritual place on the planet throbbing with positive energy where many sadhus and monks renounce everything and go to live just to realize the full potential of their minds.
