My perspective was from east coast New York and New Jersey scenes in punk rock which later evolved into commonplace occurances at metal shows......but thats just me.
I didnt do any of it until I realized there were actual rules of engagement.

I was nearly killed at a Primus mosh pit,..most pits are tame enough to get involved in if you have the confidence to know what youre doing and keep your head,...literally.::laugh::sinister::looking::animatedlaugh
There are rules of engagement!!!???
WTF
I saw Maiden at Concord last year....these big bikers looked seriously pissed with all the young dudes moshing and whenver they got pushed or shoved or someone bumped into them, they would grab the little fella by the scruff of the neck and hurl them back into the middle
I think they made their own rules ::animatedlaugh
