Interview of Wayne Static (Static-X) by bunniegraves, A_C & the 2006 Ozzfest board members
Genre = Industrial metal

1. I saw you guys a while back in Anaheim and was totally blown away
by your energy, what do you do to get into that headspace before a
show?
A:  I STRETCH FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND WARM UP MY VOICE AT THE SAME
TIME.  THAT'S IT.  AS SOON AS I GET ON STAGE AND SEE THE CROWD I JUST
LIGHT UP.

2. How do you think this years' performance (as a band) for ozzfest
will differ from the last time you appeared on the fest?
A:  THE LAST OZZFEST WE DID WAS IN 2000.  WE ONLY HAD ONE RECORD OUT AT THE TIME. ALSO, THAT WAS THE LAST TOUR FOR DEATH TRIP AND WE HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD NON-STOP FOR TWO YEARS.  I REMEMBER BEING SO BURNED OUT THAT I DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO GO ON STAGE HALF THE TIME.  NOW WE HAVE SIX
RECORDS OUT, SO PLAYING A SHORT SET MEANS PLAYING ALL THE HITS.  PLUS
WE'RE A MUCH BETTER BAND NOW AFTER YEARS OF TOURING.  I'M REALLY FIRED UP ABOUT OZZFEST THIS TIME.

3. Is there a particular album that will dominate this year's setlist?
A: WE ALWAYS PLAY MATERIAL FROM EVERY ALBUM.  THAT WILL NOT CHANGE.

4. What are your thoughts on this years' lineup vs previous years?
A: IT'S DEFINITELY A HEAVIER LINE UP THIS YEAR.  WE'LL BE ONE OF THE
LIGHTER BANDS.

5. What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
A; I'M VERY PICKY ABOUT WHAT I EAT.  SO I HAVE NO CRAZY ANSWER FOR YOU.

6. What is/are your favorite song/s to play live?
A:  I LOVE PLAYING CANNIBAL.  WE'VE BEEN OPENING THE SHOW WITH IT EVERY NIGHT.

7. What do think fans will find most different on the latest LP than
previous albums?
A:  GUITAR SOLOS.  MORE METALLIC THAN PREVIOUS RECORDS.

8. Do you have a particular method you go about when writing/recording
new material?
A:  I ALWAYS WRITE THE SAME WAY…BY MYSELF.  I START WITH A
DRUM BEAT AND A GUITAR RIFF AND BUILD A SONG FROM THERE.

9. What are your plans after Ozzfest 07?
A:  WE'RE WORKING ON ANOTHER U.S. TOUR, ALONG WITH AUSTRALIA AND JAPAN.  THEN WE'LL GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS AND START WRITING THE NEXT RECORD.

10. What advice would you give to anyone starting their own band or in
a band looking to be discovered? (a lot of our members are in bands of
their own)
A: DON'T GET TOO CAUGHT UP IN TRYING TO GET SIGNED.  IF
YOU'RE GOOD IT WILL COME TO YOU.  TRY TO CREATE YOUR OWN SOUND.  ALSO,
MAKE SURE YOU LOVE THE GUYS YOU'RE PLAYING WITH.  IF YOU DO GO ON TOUR
YOU'LL BE LIVING IN VERY CLOSE QUARTERS WITH THEM FOR MONTHS AT A
TIME.

11. nazcapilot wrote: Compared to your  previous releases, how has
Cannibal broken new ground and where will we find Static-X in the next
couple of years?
A: CANNIBAL IS THE MOST FOCUSED RECORD I'VE EVER MADE.
WE'RE GONNA KEEP GETTING HEAVIER ON THE NEXT CD.

12. chaddy wrote: What do you think of Lamb Of God Co-headlining?
A: IT'S AWESOME.  GOOD BAND.  NICE GUYS.

13. Leader1 wrote: Why a roller derby for the video for Destroyer?
A:  IT WAS THE MOST FUN I'VE EVER HAD ON A VIDEO SHOOT.  WE JUST STOOD AROUND ALL DAY WATCHING CHICKS WEARING LITTLE SHORTS FIGHTING EACH OTHER!

14. sickabomination wrote: What is your main reason for wanting to
play Ozzfest 2007 for free?
A:  WHY NOT?  IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME.  I'M SURE EVERY SHOW WILL BE PACKED.

15. CrimsonApron wrote: What bands are you looking forward to watching
on the tour?
A:  I'LL BE CHECKING OUT ALL THE BANDS.

16. Shadowsfallite wrote: It's been a while since you've been on the
tour, are your livers ready for a return?
A:  I'VE BEEN DRINKING EVERY DAY FOR TEN YEARS NOW.  MY LIVER IS IN GREAT SHAPE.

17. xxx242005 wrote: What do you prefer, your intimate small venue
tours or the large amphitheater tours?
A: I LIKE BOTH.  SMALL VENUES HAVE A GREAT PUNK ROCK VIBE.  BIG SHOWS HAVE THEIR OWN ENERGY.  I'LL PLAY TO TEN OR TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE AND STILL HAVE A GREAT TIME.

18. Shadow_of_Fear wrote: What is the deal with the Otsego songs?
A:  IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT THE TIME.  NOW I'M OVER IT.

19. lupin wrote: What new bands have you been checking out lately?
A: CHECK OUT INVITRO IF YOU'RE INTO OLD SCHOOL PUNK ROCK.  IT'S MIKEY
DOLING'S NEW BAND.  HE PLAYED IN SOULFLY AND SNOT.

20. AphroditesChild writes: I would like to thank you for taking part
in out interviews and wish you much success in your musical and
personal futures.
A:  MY PLEASURE.
