I'm wondering why the engine fan on my truck is running so damned loud.

a.  the belt is about to break.  is it one of those pain in the ass serpentine belts? fix it fast or all systems will fail.
b.  the bushings are worn.  it might be loose and rattling on the flywheel.
c.  the blades are bent.  rear end anyone lately, or have them back into you hard?
d.  low on radiator fluid?  the fan works overtime trying to keep the system cool.  check for loose/leaky hoses.
e.  is the solenoid is stuck in the ON position?  replace it or it will drain your battery when the truck is off.

what kind of noise is it making?  is it going PING PING PING or is it roaring or squealing?

Electric, straight fan or fan clutch?

The fan could be loose, bent, broken, or missing blade.

Make sure the fan shroud around the fan is secure, that could cause alot of noise when the fan comes on.

Ive had the bearings in an electric fan go out and it sounds like crap.... Then again your engine would start running hot, thats another thing to watch out for.

I'll see what else I can think of.

the car is giving you the Middle Finger.  give it a good swift kick in the right rear quarter panel and see if that works.
