The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Liverpool have offered 20 million for defender Lovren but Southampton have rejected the bid.

It is the third Southampton player Brendan Rodgers is hoping to sign and sources suggest the Croatian international is his top defensive target heading into next season.

According to the Liverpool echo, Lovren believed he mercurial cr7 had an agreement with Southampton that if a 20 million bid was received then he would be allowed to leave.

The Bayern Munich jersey 2014 player Chelsea jersey 2015 has already handed in a transfer request as he looks to push through a move and join Lallana and Lambert at the club.

However, now that the bid has supposedly been rejected, it is said to have made the player furious and now Liverpool themselves are beginning to get frustrated with the situation.

Southampton appear to be holding out for a higher fee and are reluctant to part ways easily with the player having already sold Liverpool two of their star assets.

Rodgers is a big fan of the defender who scored against his side at Anfield last season. He believes his real madrid jersey 2015 leadership qualities will be a vital tool in preventing Liverpool from shipping as many goals at the back as they did last campaign.

The Daily Mail report that Lovren is set to miss pre-season training with Southampton, after he has made his intent to leave crystal clear.

It appears it will only be a matter of time before Liverpool sign their third Southampton player as they look to bolster their squad for next years Premier League title pursuit and Champions League football.

Meanwhile, unfortunately for Saints fans, they look as though they are going to have to embrace themselves for another bid coming for one of their players from Arsenal.

The Express are reporting that Arsene Wenger is lining up a 20 million bid for midfielder Schneiderlin. According to the source, Tottenham are also in for the player and reports in Italy suggest that Napoli have made enquires over his services.

Sadly for Saints fans, they are seeing their club unravel before their eyes, with their best players leaving all at once and their manager moving to Spurs.

The only good thing is that they are making some good money on the players they have sold, so there is plenty to spend on new reinforcements.

The new manager is holding out on letting Lovren and Schneiderlin leave until adequate replacements have been found, which is the least he can do, as the club have already been dismantled to a certain extent.
