WHAT the fuck was this bullshit of avenged sevenfold playing a pantera song.... who the fuck gave them the right? i swear it pissed me the fuck off... and everyone was fucking rocking out to it as if pantera was infront of them... i don't think so.. they fucked up on dime's solo big time.. disgracful!!!!

Well I hate Avenged Sevenfold, so them playing anything will sounds like crap to me. They were just trying to get more people to like them and respect them. That backfired, though.::sinister

they were asked to do a cover for a cd for kerrang magazine. they chose pantera because they respect them. i think they did a great job. nobody will ever be as good as pantera, but i think they did great.

well if you listen to their studio version of walk they played it perfectly especially the solo. vinnie was also very pleased that they covered walk and said they did a very good job on it! so that has to mean something

If they want to pay homage to Pantera let them. No one has to give you the right to do that, bands do it all the time.  It's not like you're gonna hear Pantera show up and play it anyway, what with Phil secluding himself and Dimebag being dead and all.

bands cover other bands all the time, if they want to pay tribute to someone they love then thats their decision.  You certainly wont ever please everybody...

I think it's because most people viewed it as a publicity stunt. You don't go on tour with Coheed and Cambria and the Warped Tour, transition to Ozzfest and expect metal credit.  It was a marketing scheme and a shitty one at that
