bon jovi  the first albulm back in the 80's rocked then they got a little taste of fame and it went downhill from there
i would have to say the same about motley crue also after shout at the devil they went down hill

One that immediately comes to mind is Guns n' Roses,  but that's not so much their music as much as what happend to the band in general. Other than that, I can't think of any.
