Band:
Valkiria
Country:
Italy
Genre:
Epic Doom
Discography:
- Epika (2005)
- Blood on Blood (2006)
What i like about the Band:
Music may not be the most technical, but it accomplishes what it strides for. When i listen to him (1-man band), it just takes me places. Music is very relaxing too.
Sounds Like:
Agalloch
Wolves in the Throne Room

Band:
Wolven Ancestry
Country:
Canada
Genre:
Epic Melodic Black Metal
Discography:
- The Wrath of Gaia (2006)
What i like about the Band:
Very awesome melodic black metal. The vocals will take awhile to get used to at first but once you listen to the album about 4-5 times, it flows really well with the howling of wolves sound effects, icy winter backgrounds, awesome guitars, great drumming, and epic atmosphere.
Sounds Like:
Nobody really (that I know of)

Band:
Crystalic
Country:
Finland
Genre:
Progressive Death/Heavy
Members:
Jarno Frank Moberg - Vocals (ex-Steep)
Toni Tieaho - Guitar
Mikko Mattila - Guitar
Arto Tissari - Bass
Timo Hanhijoki - Drums
Discography:
- Watch us Deteriorate (2007)
What i like about the Band:
Not just another typical melodic death metal band from Finland.... they actually bring something new to the table. The vocals are great, the riffs aren't too overworked, and no keyboards. Just a great band to headbang to.
Sounds Like:
I dunno.... sometimes it reminds me of King Diamond, just with totally different vocals.

Band:
Elexorien
Country:
Holland
Genre:
Folk/"Battle" Metal
Members:
In?
- Vocals
Lainedil - Vocals/Guitar
Wolve - Guitar
Liza - Bass
Joris - Drums
Bert - Keyboards
Discography:
- Elexorien (2007)
What i like about the Band:
Fun band, takes the fun from turisas and combines it with the quickness of Bal-sagoth. The Vocals sometimes kill it though.... thats the only downside.
Sounds Like:
Turisas.... but 100 times faster
Bal-Sagoth.... but 100 times better
Battlelore..... again, 100 times faster.

Band:
Rainbow
Country:
England
Genre:
Heavy Metal/Hard Rock
Members:
Dougie White - Vocals
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitars
Greg Smith - Bass
Paul Morris - Keyboards
John O. Reilly - Drums
** Ex-Members include: Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, Joe Lynn Turner, Bob Daisley, and many more.
Discography:
- Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (1975)
- Rising (1976)
- Long Live Rock N' Roll (1978)
- Down to Earth (1979)
- Difficult to Cure (1981)
- Straight Between the Eyes (1982)
- Bent out of Shape (1983)
- Stranger in Us All (1995)
What i like about the Band:
It's a fucking classic, the albums with Dio are fucking must own. IMO; if you call yourself a metalhead and dont own "Rising" you're a fucking disgrace. And as always... Blackmore is a beast on the guitar throughout their carreer.
Sounds Like:
Deep Purple.... except take out the blues and fill in that void with good ol' rock.

Band:
Fjoergyn
Country:
Germany
Genre:
Symphonic/Epic Folk Metal
Members:
Stephan L. - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards
Martin L. - Drums
Stefan G. - Bass
Discography:
- Ernte Im Herbst (2005)
- Sade et Masoch (2007)
What i like about the Band:
This band never bores, i've gone stints of listening to almost nothing but this band for about 3 weeks and not once did i get tired or bored of them. Unique band.... play a style of their own. They have real good drumwork, nothing to over the top and the riffs complement the drums/bass perfectly. Same thing can be said with the keyboard complementing the guitar. Uses both growls and clean vocals.
Sounds Like:
Hollenthon

Band:
Fjoergyn
Country:
Austria
Genre:
Symphonic/Orchestral Folk Metal
Members:
Mike Groeger - Drums, Percussion
Elena Schirenc - Female Vocals
Martin Schirenc - Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Keyboards
Discography:
- Domus Mundi (1999)
- With Vilest of Worms to Dwell (2007)
What i like about the Band:
Domus Mundi was like a folk album that covered many regions of the world, from bavarian, to scandinavia, and even some middle eastern. Its a fucken great album, there are elements of black metal (very very little though) some doom and melodic death too. They are better than Fjoergyn. And these dudes never bore either. Every instrument is played to damn near perfection. Domus Mundi has a couple of songs with gregorian chants... they're fucking orgasmic songs. A MUST-LISTEN!
