Genres/labels exist to define sound. Don't go posting false information as it obviously confuses others. That's all.

Like I said, if you enjoy listening to them, go for it. Got no problem with that at all, and I shouldn't.

it is about the music. Since the genres/labels exist, though, they can be helpful in describing a band, so that fans of a specific genre will be more or less inclined to check a band out.

I was ready to drop this Ozzfest because i wasn't thrilled about most of the bands. I gave them a listen but didn't hear anything I was terribly interested in. I've been a fan of Static-X for a long while and was happy to see them on the bill (since I've never seen them in concert). It gives me a chance to give the other bands a chance live, I suppose. I've learned that not all bands sound as great/terrible as the they do live vs recorded.

Many bands that I wouldn't listen to on CD I don't mind live, as long as they give a good show. Most bands I don't like on CD are horrible at performing as well, though.

It's sad that so many mallcore kids will be going who like a shit hard rock band like Static-X the best, when there are much better bands on:

Behemoth
NIle
Lordi
Ozzy
Daath
3 Inches of Blood

If Static-X toured with only "mallcore" bands, then "mallcore" fans wouldn't give heavy/hard/whatever bands a chance, or at least would miss opportunities to hear stuff they wouldn't seek out on their own. It's one of the shining aspects of Ozzfest, in my opinion anyway. Ozzfest has turned me on to a lot of bands I wouldn't have ever known about, even though I came for a headliner.
