Jon Shaffer formed a band with influences from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Kiss, Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, and Black Sabbath.
This band has released many albums from a total of 4 different vocalists.
1. Gene Adams (Purgatory demos, self titled album)
2. John Greely (Night of the Stormrider)
3. Matt Barlow (Burnt Offerings, Days of Purgatory, the Dark Saga, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Horror Show, Tribute to the Gods)
4. Tim "Ripper" Owens (The Glorious Burden, Framing Armageddon)
As some of you know Tim was formerly the vocalist of Judas Priest when Rob went solo. Ripper was a great singer then and he has only improved with Iced Earth.
As for the style of the music it is Power Metal with Thrash elements thrown in.
Iron Maiden "galloping" rythims but faster and heavier from maidens perspective.
This band plans to release another album under the working title "Revelation Abomination" for the 2nd part of Jon Shaffer's "Something Wicked" storyline. They are currently on tour with Europe and have been supporting Dio/Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" moniker tour.
