Jason Newstead's band, Voivod(?).  I bought one of their CD's at a Tower Records going out of business sale and it was horrible.  Thank got it only cost me about $3.

I used to like alot of old Voivod, but i hadn't heard any of it since he joined the band.

Cradle of Filth and Trivium are good choices. Most of the bands that I would say, I don't even consider metal even though they are usually referenced as metal bands.
