Munich,Germany                     A German farmer is doing well today after undergoing the world's 1rst ever complete double arm transplant. Doctors say he is doing well. He's able to perform some basic tasks. Docs say that it could take up to 2 yrs before he relearns to use his hands.                     Docs spent 15 hours on July 25-26 grafting the donor arms unto the body of the 54 yr old farmer Karl Merk. Apparently he lost his arms below the shoulder in a farming accident about 6 yrs ago.        The surgery took 5 teams of medical professionals. A total of 40 surgeons, anethesiologists, nurses & other professionals to carry out the operation.        Docs say that there were good indications of nerve growth in the arms. But it could take upto 2yrs before he could use his hands. They say it could take upto 4 to 6wks before he can go home. He has 2 do therapy of sorts. He still has 2 worry about rejection. So far it seems to be ok. ~according 2~Assoc. Press
