Under H.R. 676 [Text of Bill], Medicare would be extended and improved so that all individuals residing in the United States would receive high quality and affordable health care services. They would receive all medically necessary services by the physicians of their choice, with no restrictions on what providers they could visit. If implemented, the United States National Health Insurance Act would cover primary care, dental, mental health, prescription drugs, and long term care.

She's a Med Student. She must want to be one of the over-paid (greedy) doctor's in this country. A Gov. paid Doctor would probably make twice the income of an average workers' salary anyway.
Research before you bark.

You pay $800,000 for medical school and then end up being in debt for the rest of your life...
Personally, universal health care is NOT the answer..there are many other logical ways to go about in fixing our systems, but no one gives a fuck..they just want everything for nothing
And if I am ignorant for believing our whole gov. system is flawed then I am proud to be ignorant

I agree that the U.S. government is corrupt and designed to benefit the the economic elite first and formost. However, that is no excuse to deny people health care because of the almighty dollar. I have been denied health care because of the inability to pay and I am certain that this is not an isolated incident. The health care system has been high-jacked by multi-national corporations that care more about their bottom line than treating the "consumers" of their product. Peoples lives should NOT be a fucking business! The medical institution should be designed to provide resources to those that NEED it rather than those that can pay. Lets not even get into the quality of health care issue.....

Ascetic Priest, I agree with you totally. I know a lot of people that have been dinied care, been cut off by their insurance companies when they needed it, and some Seniors who have had their script prices go up continually because of the current system and their medicare, (which they paid for when they were working), keeps covering less and less so greedy Doctor's, Insurance co's, and big Pharm co's can keep getting more and more money.
Now there is talk of reforming the Michigan "prison" medical policy and they are already getting better health care than most of us and we as tax payers are paying for that shit.
As for you, magnoliasuicide, if you'd bother to read the bill H.R. 676, the medical care is not free, it is paid for by all of us tax payers and is available to everyone who needs it. Like I said earlier, research before you bark.

With the price of healthcare and the economic climate that this country is in, its not a matter of people being deadbeats or wanting something for nothing. Its a matter of having to choose between paying your bills or going to the doctor when your sick, which shouldn't have to be a choice in the first place. I am fortunate enough to have health insurance but often find myself not going to the doctor unless its an extreme emergency because I don't have the money to pay what the insurance doesn't cover. Just some examples of why its important to support this bill. The company that I work for does not provide insurance for my hourly staff, I have employees that work 2 and 3 jobs just to make ends meet and neglect their health because they still can't afford the doctor. One employee is an amateur boxer, he was knocked unconcious and had some serious head trauma and was in a coma for several days, when he regained conciousness he checked himself out of the hospital a day later because he could not afford it. Another employee hadn't seen a doctor in several years, one night he was feeling extremely ill and was having trouble breathing, we offered to take him to the hospital but he refused, a week later we found out he had stage 4 lung cancer, he was only 22 and a non smoker so he had no reason to think it could be anything like that. It probably could have been detected earlier if healthcare was more affordable or if he had some kind of coverage. These are just a few stories, I'm sure most of you out there know people in situations like this. Its not right for seniors living on fixed incomes to have to skip a daily dose of medication just to make it last longer. Sure theres people out there that abuse the system but thats going to happen no matter what, the rest of society should not have to suffer because of that. If I have to pay a few extra dollars in taxes to make sure that there is help out there for those that need it, so be it. You never know when you will fall on hard times, but you'll gald to know that help is out there if you need it.
