hmm all I could say is take deep ass breaths before doing vocals and let out the air a little bit at a time slowly while you hold in your gut. but while you let out your breath make sure your throat is closed up a little bit. when u can finally do it right it shouldnt hurt your throat but just vibrates it. DONT EVR STRAIN UR THROAT or you'll never sing again. and NEVER DRINK COLD WATER to cleanse your throat while u practice cuz tht will fuk up ur vocal chords as well, u have to drink water room tempertaure or warm.
and most importantly you dont take a new breath for every word you say you take a really deep breath and let it out slowly while closing your throat which will give you a long span of your growls or lyrics being able to say a sentence in death metal with one breath is great
