Like the creature for which it is named, California Wildebeest is feral and fierce. The ‘Beast lives only to ring the domes of its devoted “Beasties” and spread the sound of the ‘Beast far and wide.

The band came together purely for fun, when neighbors Mike Fleiss (guitar), Marc Weingarten (Drums, Vocals) and David Kitay (lead guitar) began jamming on their favorite heavy metal cover songs in Fleiss’ backyard every weekend. From these explosive sessions emerged the ‘Beast. Soon, Fleiss (producer of such horrifying projects as HOSTEL, TEXAS CHAINAW MASSACRE and TV’s THE BACHELOR) and Weingarten began writing their own topical material such as “Minute Men,” a fast-and-furious song that examines the immigration debate from the point of view of the scared migrant worker. The ‘Beest’s “Lies” is a tale of drug-induced paranoia, powered by an industrial-strength hook and militant drums, while “Always Dead” features the feathery vocal touch of the band’s comely bassist, Abi Colbeck.

Welding the spare power of punk rock with the heavy riffage of hard rock, California Wildebeest is blazing a new trial in Metal’s Serengeti. Long Live the ‘Beest!
